240 Volt Ballast Question

Discussion in 'Grow Room Design/Setup' started by CR-PuffnStuff, May 6, 2008.

  1. I have an unused 240 volt outlet right next to where I would like my grow cabinet. It takes a Nema 6-15 plug. They look like a regular plug with the two top prongs turned 90 degrees and a regular round ground pin. I live in the US. Is this the type of plug that would come with a 240-volt ballast? It would sure take a load off considering all the other things I will need to have plugged into one circuit. Fans etc. would get plugged in to the 110.

  2. It should be. Discount-hydro.com sells whips that are 240v and are the same as the socket you described. Lucky bastard. I have a 240 volt outlet not in use as well, but it's in the middle of my dining room. Again, Lucky bastard.:smoking:

  3. Be sure to tell your hydro shop guy that you want a 240 ballest with that particular style plug. They should have it and set it up for you.

  4. Thanks guys! I am feeling like a lucky bastard! Might just have to up the wattage.

  5. Thanks for the link! This weekend, I'm driving a hundred miles to get some Fox Farms Ocean Forest and Light Warrior. 70/30 mix. Can't wait for labor day!

  6. I had to drive 150miles for my worm castings. Worth the travel though, I can get the 30lb bags for $7.50 each:hello:, the shop (where I got my FoxFarm) close by here has the same bags of castings for $35. Guess we gotta do what we gotta do.:smoking:
