21st century - the era of widespread genocide?

Discussion in 'Politics' started by SlowMo, Sep 3, 2015.

  1. Religious fanatics want to turn the world into a genocidal slaughterhouse. They already have a good start in Syria and Iraq. Here in America, it's the racists that have the same goal as they beat the death drums for mass murder.

  2. Yea the human race seems to be going through a few challenges right now!

Stop the world.... i want to get off now!

  3. There's always been and always will be people who want to kill others for nothing more than their ethnicity, race, or religion. The big difference is now we have live leak and other sources that constantly blast the shit in our face.

  4. Exactly. I don't know why this is new to people lol. However I will say that in past it was the Christians who were bloody religious barbarians. Now the roles have changed.

Syria and Iraq? What about Lebanon, Somolia, Sudan, Libya, and Mali where islamic militants have taken over. Where it's just as bad as Syria/Iraq? What about countries fighting against islamist like Kenya and Nigeria.

People only focus on one small tinsy-winsy aspect of the situation.

  5. I'm pretty sure that the 20th century was the era of wide spread genocide

He's come a long way, eh?

  7. This one, also by Louis "The Charmer" Farrakhan, is even weirder, it's about famous 1950's sex-change celebrity Christine Jorgensen,

  8. Yes, it was.

There was somewhere around 200 million people killed by governments in the 20th century -- NOT INCLUDING wars.

  10. Genocide is more apart of human nature and history than alot of the societal concepts we share today. I think the 20th century is one of the few times the human population actually dipped until the 1930s lol.

  11. Well that's easy for him to say, seeing as he has a spaceship and all.....

... and personally knows the Wongs .... Just sayin'...

  12. I think, considering the fact that the century is still in its infancy, and that he phrased the title of the thread as a question, he meant are we ramping up to making the 21st the century of wide spread genocide.

  13. Right. And I have almost zero doubt that an increasing level of genocidal activities will be tied to the steady rise of militant Islam around the world and reaction to it. We ain't seen nuthin yet. I'd bet serious money that eventually, the nutcases of that religion WILL succeed in triggering WW3 by mid-21st century.

  14. Religion is going to destroy the world.

And you can thank the Pope, all the other religious leaders, our political and business leaders, and the rest of the world, for allowing religion to prevail as much as it has. Humanism is a dirty word to our spiritual leaders. Until we kick them off their thrones, and start to talk straight, we're all fucking doomed.

  15. If we're talking about the Pope, he has less influence now than pretty much any other point in the history of the Papacy. Even in Middle Eastern theocracies, the younger generations are getting sick of religious rule. We're moving in the right direction on that score, IMO.

  16. Lol one-fifth of all those deaths were from stalin, pretty crazy

  17. And if memory serves, Mao Zedong killed almost double what Stalin did.

And people (many right here on GC) think this ideology (socialism) is something to strive for.

  18. That's a strawman attack and you know it. Most people here believe in funding one or two more social programs, like education/healthcare, not completely turning over the power of production to be government. There is a difference between democratic socialist policies and socialist authoritarian regimes. Pretending otherwise is just willful ignorance.

  19. Sorry, I stand by what I said.

  20. Common sense will prevail in the end I hope. Religious extremism will be put down like a rabid dog after they have done enough damage to rouse all rational minded people to action.
