sorry for the jacked up colors, i havent figured out how the use my flash manually, im a much better slr shooter, believe me! this plant was completely drooped yesterday, i replanted in a 3 gallon, it seems happy again. time will tell
Train them again to get some nice clone shoots on the ones with small lower growth. You could take some micro clones now but they take a bit longer to root. Most growers find it better to turn off the HPS and have other lighting for quality camera shots or bring the plants into another room.
came very close today to destroying the whole operation. all i will care to say there has been some carelessnes as far as security is concerned. today the property owner was just chillin in front of the building talkin on the cell phone. all i will say is there was a serious light leak. and you can all imagine the ungodly-alien like orangish, street lamp light coming from the window, even though its 3rd floor, and hard to see from the street because of building location and no buildings across the way, just the simple fact dude was out there was very unerving. this was daytime btw i know most people would immediatley shut down. i was going to, but after thinking of the situation decided to hold out. the light has remained off, and everything is going to go through a big switch. location will be moved close, but not far weve come to this conclusion, he could have been there outside the building for any OTHER reason than what we suspect, its the end of the month, garbage hasnt been picked up etc... anyways, seeing him was a reality check and a half. security friends is very, very important dont forget
Wait, you have the light off? Your keeping it on its normal schedule.....right?? If you change it now, you've either got to start flowering, or its going to stress the hell out of the plant, you might be alright, but stress on the plant is never good, and can lead to thigns like hermies. Small differences like 20/4 to 18/6 arn't going to hurt it, but if you shut down the lights for a day or two straight, after its been 18/6 sicne the beggining, your bound to have problems.
okay got back from the spot, reset everything up in the new location. i must say i am very happy so far, everything is looking really good. the plants got about 12 hours of darkness. first time ever. i think with the problems over the last couple of days and the readjustment to there new homes and new soil, everything is turning for the good. ive noticed an explosion in lower growth, all though the new growth is a little bit bright green in color, i can see they are darkening up also. the new growth is not wrinkled and v-shaped as before, they are finally starting to look normal. stylez, they have been on a normal scheadule since day one. today they are 35 days old. so im giving them an extra day to adjust to there new surroundings before going 12/12. i know if i kept lights off i would have to start flowering quick, or screw it all up, nah it was just a little under 12 hrs, no harm done. im actually pretty sure that the lights out extra rest period helped them tremendously. tomorrow ill be flushing them just to make sure all the bad stuff is out. these plants grew at least an inch and half during that dark period. oh yeah most important, we are secure
its been a long time, shouldnt left you...nah ha jus fuckn 'round, anyways, heres a couple of pictures, put them on 12/12 on friday, theyve plumped up a little, i didnt have much time to retie them down, but ill do that as soon as possible. i wish i could change the title on this thread HEY MODS, IF YOURE READING, HOOK ME UP PLEASE! anyways, enjoy the pics...
yeah another 2 weeks would have been nice, but i have a november deadline, so....maybe another time but thanks both of you!
They will still yeild good. dont go to easy when training. Bend those babys down at a 60 degree angle away from the light now and you will get many nice large cigar sized buds rather then one main cola and a few underdeveloped lower buds. Just checking but did you take clones for your next grow?
Here is a sketch of how i would train this setup. To make it easy for yourslf tie a string around the pots below the rim to use for attaching the training strings to. teh best advice i can give you is to use 2 half hitches because it can slide back and forth shortening and lengethning the string so you dont have to keep re-tieng, just slip the knot. heres how to tie it http://131.230.57.1/knots/h_hitch.htm
thanks grOwer, hey i want to do the same setup as you have drawn for me, but i have a fan attached to the door bringing in fresh air, so the problem would be one plant would get the full force of the fan at all times, couldnt let that happen again, that led to my s.s.d.s yeah im definetely going to retie, i just havent figured out how im going to get the light down to the lower branches. everything has bushed up since switching the cycle. should be pretty interesting. keep yall posted.
Put that fan on the wall in the center so its its pointing down and ocilating back and forth. As woody has discovereed more circulation in the box makes bigger buds, not ventilation in and out the box, but cuirculation inside the box like that fan you have. What do you have for ventilation? To get the light to the lower brances is easy, once you tie them down slowly over 3 or so days, all the growth will re-dirrect upwards then you can just train them to grow to the center more and fill in the void there. Here is a basic guideline for training for everyone. 1. Keep light didtribution even across the buds, this is the singel moet reason for training tomake the most out of what you have. A single light means buds must be in a U-shaped or bowl shape if oyu are working with a flat grow. Outdoors spread the plant out as much as possible to make it absorb the most light and take up the most space. Make the plant flat in refrence to the sun in the middle of the break in the canopy or pointed at the sun at the highest point in travel. 2. Keep growth close to level because auxins go more to higher bud sites. this goes aginst #1 but light it still more important. 3. When starting tieng dont do it all at once. This is for 2 reasons it gives the plant more time to redirect less harshly rather then twisting around to the light in a few days. 4. ther are nmo rules to how you train transplanting at an angel works well as i have esperimented with good results. or even growing with the pot at an angle for veg then puting into flower flat so teh plants stem is already at a trained angle from teh stem up and no fear of snaping the hurd because minimal bending will be needed. 5. The best time to beging training for indoor for the most budsites is when the plant has about 4-6 nodes this makes the plant grow more bush. 6. Outdoor because the sus is at an angle your better off letting the plant get some height first then bend it at an angle to the sun. if you make it grow more bush like for the indoor plants the back budsides wont get any direct light. Did you try to tie that knot yet for pracitce? It helps out so much with adjustments.
sup yall ! got back from the spot, again, dayum its getting tiring, anyways, i readjusted the tie, sorry grO, didnt have any readily available string to do any serious tying, however i did find some kite string...i may use that. havent practiced the knot yet, but ill take a look at it. so far, from what ive tied, the bottom is bushing up real nice. i think it also helped from when i first tied them down. im guessing ill have indication of sex by the end of next week. im also considering replanting the other 3 into bigger pots. i also have an oscillating fan on the inside of the closet, so it pushes air around pretty good.
sup, i wouldnt use kite string because it can cut the plant. ive been using soime dottonstring abou the size of yarn but it dosent stretch out and thin out like yarn. One time iran outof string so i splt one string itno 2 adn it was sothin it buriesd the plant a bit and the stem and cola isa bit smaller compared to the other buds at the same node and nearby nodes. if you need to use thin sttring use at lest 2 strings one for the tip and one closerto the node thatway it distributes the load. but your better off just using the thicker string. I saw the ocilating fan, i was just saying to screw the base against the wall just below your light so it points down ointo your plans and ocilates across the plants. Thatway you can put the plants the squares shape and dont waste the light energy lighting a fan. you shouldlook itno a fan to move fresh air into that box, you do have awome air circualtin you just need the ventilation to get some fresh co2 in there, or if you dont want a vent for saftey reasons, invest in c02 enrichment.
with my setup grO i actually have 3 fans inside that room. i have the one in the left corner, one running right below the hps, which skims really nicely over the tops of the plants and a fan attached to the door bringing in fresh air. there's a hole on the top right corner of the closet to vent air out, plus the door is mostly closed, except the door fan holds it open from being completely closed. with the kite string, i was thinking of using 2 strings instead of one, or just stop being a cheap bastard and go get some thicker type of string. the fan on the door also points above the top of the plants, so thats more air flow. i may consider trying to mount that other fan, except it has a base, so it would be harder, or i could probably take it back and get one of the clip fans.
checked things out so far. 2 females im happy to report the indicas havent shown anything yet, except one has a cluster of what appears to be some type of pod. they are 3 pods together. im hoping hairs appear. it would kind of be distresssing if one of my indicas are a male. fingers crossed though, im going to be looking at some pics. the largest indica, appears to be a female, im confident. but that one with the pods is sketchy. hasnt anyone ever seen this trait on any type of indicas? sorry no pics today, didnt expect to pop by. and im guessing by the time i get the pics, ill know for sure. anyways any replies would be most welcome.
The pods sounds exactly like males man if it was female it would put out a spade shaped pod with a white hair, males just grow balls. O well you can't win em all. Ive only grown sativas so i wouldnt know if there is any diffrences in sex appearence give it more time it will become more clear in a week. It sounds like you have more then enough ventilation and fans. Sorry to be a pest but did you take the clones or no?
