2023 led lights

Discussion in 'Lighting' started by Clearsky, Jun 15, 2023.

  1. So far from what I have seen is they are making a lot of bar style LEDs which is good for even coverage, but they can not compare to the QB grow lights for the penetration.
I use a 600 watt QB in middle of tent and a 350 watt QB light on each side of that in a 5x5 tent and gives you a nice even coverage with not using much power from the QB.
So as of now I don't see anything new out there any better than the QB at this time, that's my opinion

  6. daily light integral

  7. I can run 52 watts per square foot but don't even run light's that hard.
In my 5x5 tent I can have my lights 16 inches above plants and not even turn up to half on each light and hit 1000 par but like to keep it about 800 par. When running 12/12 during veg run then 5 to 600 par 18 hours.

  8. Quantum Boards ,, sold by Horticulture Lighting Group. AKA ( HLG)

HLG sells LED lighting parts like Quantum Boards , heat sinks. power suppliers.
Right now its about .90 cents per watt to assemble a quality LED grow light using the Samsung LM 301 diodes, which are considered in the top two Diodes on the market.
I operate twenty HLG 2V288 QB @ 160 watts per board . for 86 square ft of grow space

  9. That's what I run, you can tell by picture I don't have these lights turned up very much at all not even half way. Screenshot_20230713-203103.png

  10. I'm looking for a new light for my tent. Tent is 2x4x6. I currently have a Bestva 2000DC. It's rated at 275w on their website. This light has been rock solid so far and a major upgrade from the 250w hps I had from my previous set up. I don't have an issue with this light, just that it could fail and I would like to have a backup. I do have the hps I could use in a pinch but I think it would generate too much heat in this tent.

I'd like to replace it with something with a better light spectrum. In pics this one looks really blurple but in real life it is very bright with a slight pink tint. I'm budget minded and looking for $200 usd or less.

  12. Hmmm, never even thought of that. Reference?

  13. So back to my question. With a coupon, a Bestva Pro 4000 falls into my price range. Would a 4000 be overkill for my 2x4 tent?

  14. The light is fully dimable so won'y be a problem. But the fixture is wider than 2ft.

  15. looks good, I gotta say I got some of these migrow lights,
but Shane above comments on most good lights
quote: This 100W version is sold to flower up to 2.5ft x 2.5ft or 75cm x 75cm but, as tested, I would recommend for a 2ft x 2ft or 60cm x 60cm space. The efficiency and PAR output is a little below the competition at 1.84µmols/watt or usable PPF per watt (I would expect over 2 for the components specified). unquote

  16. If my metric conversion is correct its 21x20 inches.

  17. My bad you are right! When I saw one I had in mind it was bigger.

  18. Dont know whats wrong with that spectrum, the one they put on their amazon posting looked super standard, like 4000k 80cri + some 660 red: the standard high efficiency spectrum that most led lights use. Sometimes adding the red and blue diodes makes things look a bit blurple to the eye since the blue isnt coming from cold white diodes, but its generally only to the eye.
As for new lights: maybe going for 2 lights, each for sized for a 2x2 section would give you better spread. For this area 2 lights of 120-150w would be great. I believe vypars new 150w light is one of the better performing lights in the low price range. I think migro did a vid on them. Also 2 lights means less risk of one light breaking completely; youd be able to finish or just keep going on one until you can get replacement.

  19. I opted to go with the Bestva Pro 2000. Will keep the old as a backup and for seed projects in another area.

    Tks all
