2005 Outdoor Grow

  1. Hey guys I'd like to share my grow with you all. I really can't plant outside for another couple months but I've started my seeds indoors to better increase the chance of the little babies surviving outdoors.

I'm growing Sweetooth, Eggmont and Lucky this year, all should finish in Aug -early Sept. I Germinated my seeds in a glass of water placed in a warm dark place. I checked it every day and planted the seeds that where cracked and exposing a tap root. I also changed the water every day and placed the seeds that did not sprout back into the water. After I planted the seeds 1/4 inch down in some Seed Starter Soil ( From Local Greenhouse) I placed the potted seed in a warm dark place and checked it daily to see if it sprouted. If it did it was placed inder some CF lights 12 on and 12 off. I have 2 seeds that are in soil that still haven't sprouted. I'm happy with the germination results. 34 out of 36.

I invested in some specialized nutes this year also, I can't wait to see the results. Anyway here's a few pics of my start.

  2. nice. Im startin my outdoor summer grow in a few weeks, ive got 1 male growing in the spot ive picked just to make sure it dosent get found and to test the conditions

  3. Right on skittles, good luck in your grow..

  4. Hi

how come your lights are on 12/12......

are you going to sex them befor you plant out side????

  5. good luck

  6. Hey tetrahydrocanna, man I did lots of reading on light phases and it's quite confusing. I start from seed (not feminized) and it's recommended 12/12 to promote more females, along with a certain tempeture. Last year out of 12 seeds 11 sprouted with 2 males, this left me with 9 sweethearts. So i figured it worked well last year, lets do it again :). Now after the 4 - 5 node I will increase the light hours to till til I get to about 15-16 hours, that way my babes won't start to flower as soon as I put them out. Last year a couple started to flower and then went back to veg, which effected the yeild. What do you think?

Never thought of that one skittles! Good luck with your grow :).

  7. hmmm I had always assumed sex was genetic

  8. I think the universal method is to keep them on 24/0 Light/Dark in the beginning during veg., then look at the preflowers to toss out the males, then when they reach a desired height (about 1/2 your preferred harvest height), switch over to 12/12 for flowering.

  9. Hi QuickBeam, yup if I was to complete my grow indoors and using clones that would be good, but I havn't figured out how to turn the sun on and off at will yet for my outdoor grow. :)

  10. Only if you buy Feminized seeds. They are alot more expensive than regular seeds.

  11. Jeez canuck, you can't turn the sun off? What a n00b. ;)

I think if you could turn the sun on/off at will, your MJ plants would be TREES. 24/7 with the Sun on for veg and 12/12 for flowering. The main cola would be bigger than you! You'd have to train monkeys to climb the MJ trees and cut down the colas. You'd have to throw all the bud into the back of an 18 wheeler, just to haul it all!

  12. ^^^lol^^^ the sex is genetic .. ive not heard of doing a little 12/12 at the start before .. maybe its like a good luck thing .. you know like a rabbits foot or something ??? haha anyway errm good luck ... 34 sprouts?? dam wish i had that kinda space!!

  13. LOL good luck, and I am just gonna leave it at that with the sun comment.

    LOL

  14. you guys know I was only joking about the sun comment. lol....

  15. nice going canuck. i'll be starting my outdoor grow soon. good luck!

    peace

  16. Ya canuck, that's the only reason it's funny. If you weren't jokin, we'd all be questioning your sanity!

  17. i had heard that theory befor.......thats why i asked...

thats a very big arguement there........nobody is sure if the seeds sex is determind befor or after the seed opens.........at the end of the day i dont realy care i grow from clones or sex them first but im lucky ive got room and time to do that.........and we all need males so we can get free seeds....A.

cant beleave you cant turn the sun of though........lol.

  18. Hmm Interesting stuff about the sex. As for the sun, well the only one I know of who could turn in on and off was Mr. Burns and look what happened to him.

  19. Well guys it's been a week or so. I've sexed most of my plants. Turns out 8 of the 34 are males and I must kill em. I've giving my plants some 6-6-6 fish emultion and changed the light schedule from 12/12 to 16/8. They did start to flower a little thats why I changed to 16/8 to get them re-vegging.

I just about ready to give them some Tarantula from Advanced Nutrients to Increase root growth, Tarantula is a beneficial bacteria that attaches itself to the root system and promote big roots.(SO the Label says). Also I'm getting ready to give them Barricade, barricade is potassium silcate and promote strong cell walls for the plant. The reason for me to give them Barricade is that I'm up north in Canada and we sometimes get early frost before the plants have had time to finish, by giving them barricade it's suppose to help them survive a few frost with minimal damage to the plant.

The only problem with the Barricade is that it takes days to break down in water and when it breaks down the PH level rises, I'm going to invest in a digital PH meter next week so I can properly set the PH level before giving it to my plants.

Here's a couple shitty picks of a couple males.

  20. Well guys, since posting last my plants where flowering some and I've pretty much eliminated my males, I'm down to around 22 plants left. Since I've only been giving them water up untill last week and they where starting to flower I've have some lower leaf problems. Since these problems came up I started some ferts the 6 -6 -6 and Worm-Bio. They seem to be doing better and starting to re-veg.

I overwatered a couple and they didn't make it. I used a different tray this year on some plants where the water rather than having a chance to run off is contained in a little reseviour that each little seed pot sits in ( attached a pic). I stopped using this tray after I relized that the water was not running off properly and they seem to dry out quicker.

All these pics where taken around the 20th. I'll post some more tonight once my lights come on.
