So this is my first grow ever, its just bagseed, from years ago actually. Currently its at 2 weeks into veg, and things seem to be going well, I had some issues with root constriction so I transplanted it into the larger pot that you see here. However I am noticing some green pistils or maybe leaves growing from the nodes where its sexual identifiers are supposed to grow. Are these just a different set of leaves growing or is it really starting to show pre signs of sex? I believe what I am speaking of is most visible in the third picture. Thanks!
What you're seeing is most likely stipules not pistills. And just new growth. You won't see sex until you initiate 12/12 or around 6-8 weeks if you veg that long.
Thank you. That is what I thought it most likely was. Just wanted to clarify that it wasn't going into autoflower or something. I plan to veg it for awhile, I have height so I want to get it tall within reason so I can get the most out of it.
Those are called steeples. They don't produce anything nor are they a sign of your plants sex. Good luck and happy growing
Thank you! I feel better about that situation now. I researched stipules and understand now. I am curious about something else though. The bottom first set up leaves started to turn a bit brown and that is when I realized I needed to transplant it ahead of schedule due to root issues. The plant is fine since transplanted, but would it be wise to just clip off the browned leaves? Would the plant benefit from it or could it actually harm the plant? My line of thinking is if those two bottom leaves are damaged wouldn't it save the plant energy by clipping the dead weight?
It doesn't matter how much height you have or how tall you grow the plant. Yield will be determined by how much light you have. The taller the plant gets, the less light the lower part of the plant gets. What is your light set up?
Currently I am running 4 LEDs at 6400 and 2 CFLs at 6000, total lumens is right at 9800. Want to add more bulbs but running on a budget right now as I am a seasonal working but I am always improving my set up bit by bit each day. I am looking into low stress testing, but as I am completely new to it and don't want to mess my plant up since it seems to be doing alright.
What are the actual watts that those lights are pulling out of the wall? Lumens aren't the only thing to consider in a light, but just so you have a comparison on lumens - a 600w HPS puts out 90,000 lumens. Low stress training is very easy to do and even if you're new at it you won't hurt the plant - it's the best way to maximize yield if you don't have a real powerful light.
The LEDs pull 15 watts per bulb but they run equivalent to 100 watt per bulb being LEDs. The CFLs are about the same. I'll start low stress training then, it does seem like it would be the wiser option based on what you've said. Don't know too much about it so need to start looking into it.
Go to www.growweedeasy.com and on the home page there are 3 boxes - click on the third box that says plant training and it will answer all you questions. How much an led or cfl is equivalent to in watts is really irrelevant - you're still only pulling 90watts - you need more light even if you lst. Good luck.
That looks awesome! Any tips? My plant only has the main stem which I Could probably start tying down but the branches don't have that much length yet.
This was a clone. I started tieing down the main stem from the first minute it could take it. I decided to top it at 8 nodes, and then tied all 8 of those down. I topped those once they grew out to be close to a 3 foot circle. Then before i flipped i cut out all the weaker branches growing up, left around 35 tops. Although this one has been fighting deficiencies she has rebounded pretty well since i figured it out. Here are some earlier photos. Notice the tops are still tight growth. freshly trimmed one day from the last pic, filled back in nicely you can really see the branch structure in the one.
Very nice. I scrog so I only lst for a few weeks. What is the wire attached to on the branch that sticks out 6" from the edge of the pot? The wire appears to be going straight down.
I put the pot on an old wooden drawer so I would have something to tie to. Just drove nails in it and tied to those. Kind of a pain moving it around, but i couldnt have achieved this shape without it. Sent from my SAMSUNG-SM-G890A using Tapatalk
