  1. First, was wondering iif you can tell whether bought weed is indica or sative and if you can tell if the seeds are indica or sativa? Als, is it true insidas give off more smell?
  2. Usually there are strains that is a hybrid of both sativa and indica.

Here is some useful info about indicas and sativas

INDICA-short plants,6in- 4ft, Rounded leaf with marble like patterns, Short internodes between branches (less than three inches)

SATIVA-Tall plants, 4ft-15ft, Pointy leaves with no markings or patterns, has long internodes between branches (3-6in)

Now if there is a hybrid, the plant will share both the qualities of each species of cannabis, obviously. If you buy from seed banks, most tell you the kind (40% indica/ 60% sativa)
  3. but thats on the account that they also tend to have more thc.

Skunk weed is a very indica plant. Now that should give you a hint...
  4. odoylerules1021,
Just going to expand on what crapskater said. This is right out of Mel Franks book. It is hard to tell what strain purchased weed might be. If it is very leafy it is probably an indica. You can also tell by what type of high it gives (see below) and if you smoke it how much of the house it stinks up. Yes indicas smell pretty strong when growing and smoking. Seeds are impossible to tell what strain it is or what sex.

Indicas- these plants are fairly short, usually less than 5 feet tall. They are bushy with compact branching and short internodes. They range in shape from a rounded bush to a pine-like shape with a wide base. The leaves are short, very wide and a darker shade of green than most equatorial Sativas because they contain larger amounts of chlorophyll. Sometimes there is webbing between the leaflets. Indica buds are dense and tight. Indicas usually have shorter flowering times. The high is heavy body-oriented and lethargic.

Sativas- grow into 5-15 feet tall and are symmetrical pine-shaped plants. The internodes are longer than Indicas. This makes the plant look taller. The lowest branches are the widest spreading 1 1/2 to 3 feet. The leaves are long, slender and finger like. Plants are light green since they contain less chlorophyll. Sativa buds are not as dense. Some varieties grow buds along the entire branch. Sativas generally have longer flower times. High is described as soaring, psychedelic, thoughtful and spacey.

Indica Sativa- leans more towards indica characteristics

Sativa Indica- leans more towards Sativa.
