  1. hey HEY...! Is it possible to screw a 250W hps directly into a R30 size track light fixture? There are three cans on the track and I have some CFL's but I'd like to go with HPS for 12/12. Do I need a separate ballast for each bulb or can I just screw the HPS bulbs into the receptacles already on the track? The track is just plugged into a household outlet in the grow room.
Also, what is the best way to dispose of the plant when I'm entirely through with it? Thanks and grow in peace.

  2. I'm not sure what a R30 track light socket is, but if it is something used for standand house light bulbs, then it won't work. HID lights generally require something in the range of 3,000 or 4,000 volts to get an arc from cathode to anode. That arc is what produces light. The job of the ballast is to step up a 120 volt house circuit to this range and to filter the signal some with a capacitor. If this R30 is something for HID lights, then your guess is as good as mine.

  3. I see...Ahem. LOL
