You could grow 2 tiny plants in a 3gal or grow 2 monster s in a 100 gal i guess kinda depends on what you trying to do why not grow in seperate pots?
Plants will be fighting over nutes, getting root bound. Sure you can do it, but your just looking for problems doing it.
Aside from the novelty of growing 2 plants in the same pot, no real benefit from doing it but lots of potential drawbacks. It's always nice to be able to isolate one plant from another, if need be. If you're doing a living soil sort of thing in giant containers or beds, then maybe a different story...?
Totally agree. Once it get's to that point, if one plant has a deficiency and the other is healthy, you may end up over-fertilizing the healthy one in an attempt to save the sick one.
