2 gallon DWC for autoflowers?

Discussion in 'Hydroponic Growing' started by JHall54, May 19, 2018.

  1. Anyone think using a 2 gallon bucket could work? I know 5 would be better, but I'm curious how well the plant would do in 2 gallons.

  2. I have been growing in 2 gallon hempy buckets. Hempy is just manual human powered DWC. 2 gallon food grade bucket is the norm. I have now moved to 5 gallon smartpot hempies. Now that is the wave of the future. Once more people start writing about it everybody will grow that way. You simply set the 5 gallon smartpot in a 16 inch saucer and use the 16 inch saucer as your reservoir. All other DWC/Hempy principles still apply.

  3. I use a General Hydroponics PowerGrower.

I'm sure a 2 gallon bucket would work, but you'd be splitting the 2 gallons between a growing area and a reservoir right? You might want at least a 5 gallon, just a thought. You would just be severely limiting the size of the plant you can grow.

  4. What happens when the 2 gallon bucket is filled with roots ?
I have seen 5 gallon buckets jam packed with roots ...
