2 600w LED lights

Discussion in 'First Time Marijuana Growers' started by That818, Apr 24, 2018.

  1. I have 2 600w LED lights in a 2x4x6 grow tent. I been having heat problems. Does anyone think this is overkill on the lights? What do you recommend. Thanx!

  2. They're probably actually much smaller lights then 600. When an led lists a certain wattage like 600 and runs at less all that means is the diodes are able to handle 600 watts but the light is ran at less so the diodes last longer. The 600 does not mean its equivelant to a 600 watt grow light. Whats that actual draw of your lights? It's probably half or less. Two 300 actual watt leds would not be big time over kill, it be on the high side at 75 watts per square foot. Most recommend around 50 while some go even higher. 2 lights work much better in 2x4s do to their odd shape. I grow in 2x4s.

What's your exhaust set up and what's the temperature of the incoming air?

  3. Avg. Power Draw: 269W±3% is what it says. What do you use in your tent?

  4. you have two 269 watt leds then.
I currently run a 600watt hps with 2 smaller leds in one 2x4 tent. My other 2x4 has two 600 hps that I run at 50% usually.

  5. So do u think its over kill ? The 2 i have in there make it really hot. Im hating it.

  6. No i dont think its overkill if you can get the heat under control but in order to help i need you to answer the question I asked before. What's your exhaust set up and what's the temp of the incoming air?

  7. In coming air is 75°. Its central a/c . and there a regular thermometer in the bathroom reading 75°.

I have it exhausting into the bathroom fan. With a 210 cfm hooked up.

  9. The incoming air is 75 so then you can't expect to add a heat source such as grow lights and keep it near that. Your incoming temp needs to come down regardless of your exhaust fans

210 cfm of what? An inline grow fan or one of those duct boosters you can buy at hardware stores. Duct booster do not pull their rated cfm without the help of another larger main fan. Duct boosters are made to boost airflow in long duct runs that have a larger fan thats being dragged down by the restriction . They're probably about half or less on their own. 210 cfm of an actual inline grow fan is kind of on the low end but if you're incoming temps were lower it could work.

Regardless you're never going to be able to bring in 75° air and keep it with in a few degrees after adding any light source. You need to lower those temps. Even my tents that are all led if I'm not pulling in air under 70° I won't be keeping temps around the mid to upper 70s

  10. My main room my tents are in is at a constant 63 degrees that keeps the temps in my tent at a perfect 75 thats with the 600 watt hps and the 1200 and 600 not true watt leds

  11. That makes a whole lot of sense. Thank you. I dont know why i did think of that. Smh. Now i got to figure how to get the room colder. Any idea?

Well its an havac exhaust fan. About 6" 210 cfm.

  12. Thank you . That makes alot of sense

  13. Havac exhaust fan doesn't mean anything, they're all havac exhaust fans. Havac is just an abbreviation for heating, ventilation and air conditioning. All these fans would fall under ventilation.

Any pics of your fan? I'm willing to bet it's a booster fan and not an inline grow fan. Booster fans are very weak, much weaker then there rated cfm when they're not used with another main fan.

There's only one way to get a room colder especially with summer on it's way......air conditioning. Buy a portable unit, window unit or crank the central air down.

  14. How hot is hot? I have two in my tent with two tabletop fans circulating air and with 4 plants the temp is around 79. The room is probably 69-72 degrees if I had to guess.

I have all vents open and the zipper unzipped a lil to help airflow

  16. Of course lol who doesn’t like to show off.
    Just the tent I assume:

The carbon filter is for smell mainly in case it gets pungent during flower - right now it’s not turned on.
But I leave the door a bit unzipped with box fan pointed a little at it if heat becomes excessive.

  17. Nice set up man! And those are 2 600w leds? What temp do you get in the tent? Whats temp in the room?

  18. Thanks-learned and made adjustments for second grow. Want something done efficiently, give the task to a lazy person lol

But yes 2 600w led from kingplus I believe. I had two 1000w led in this tent last time but the tent reached as high as 95. Currently the average is around 79 degrees. Average Room temp is 75. Today was a rainy overcast day and I had window cracked so today: in tent: [IMG]
In room sensor was in for about 7 mins

  19. Oh ok I see. I have my lights all the way almost touching the top of the tent. Because i let my plants veg to big before i switched to flower and ran out of space. If i close the tent all the way it reaches 100°.

In the pic you can see them way up. 20180422_113704.jpg

  20. How many weeks into flower are u
