1st time growing with a bubble bucket

  1. Hey all, just wanting some friendly advice.. And to share some experience..

Anywho, i have two 5 gal buckets with lids, specifically the lowes silver buckets because they leak no light so no need to tape anything besides the the lid.

I started out using general organics... Its good but way too slow, you may as well grow in soil using it... Its disgusting, leaving films of bacteria and crud all over the res. And caused thrips... No good...

I started using the gen. Hydro flora series instead, and its so much better, it is cleaner, doesnt smell too bad, my roots and plants exploded, i totally recommend gen hydro, i used fox farm for soil but i recommend gen organics its very fast acting and is designed around soil grows

Well i lucked our and got floralicious plus, rapid start, flora kleen, and liquid kool bloom free... But im prolly not gonna use kool bloom since when i go 12/12 i plan to use the lucas formula

I am using 3: 40w flourescent sylvania gro lux lights, i am going to purchase a 400w mh/hps light next month...

They are a foot tall and i fim one and topped the other by accident trying to fim, but happens..

any advice on getting 2oz of smoke off of each plant, i plan on letting them get 4-5ft tall

O yeah 1 is afghani hashplant and the other is blue dream

  2. I also have a 2 bubblebucket system and after visiting this sight for the last 6 months, I have learned the best way to maximize yield... scrog!

  3. I'm just starting my first dual bubble bucket as well.... appreciate the info.

    A couple questions too :
When did your roots first show up outside the net pot? And when did you start your nutes?

  4. Well, I have just set up the bubble buckets about a week ago and I transplanted two plants that I just finished and I am trying to reveg them. One of them has roots coming through the bottom of the net and the other doesn't. I think because I was in the process of getting my rez temps down and the one had a littl root rot starting. If you started from seed, it will probably take 1-2 weeks to see roots but it depends on how high up from the bottom of the pot they were when you started them. Did you start them in rockwool?

  5. Also I am running nutes now but my plants are about 8 inches tall. If starting from seed or clones, wait 2 weeks, then start out at 1/4 strength.

  6. I started them in Rockwool, and transferred once sprouted. I'd say they're about an inch above the netpot, resting on some clay pellets. 10 days in, and no sign of roots yet. I'm not concerned... just curious.

  7. You should definitely see them soon. It may take a little extra time for the roots to creep down through that inch of clay.

  8. For sure take the rockwool out, thats the reason u cant see your roots, and my exp. Critters love to start colonies, i used peat pellets and realized that was a bad idea, washed that crap away and problem solved. just start them with water in cocotek cups and when it gets about 4" put it at the bottom of your net pot and keep adding rocks from there, u will always see the roots then, use lucas, its such a money saver, and its proven, i pissed alot of money down the drain for un-needed crap, gh flora mico and bloom is the bombdiggity

Where can i learn everything i need to know about the lucas formula? Im currently using fox farm nutes but now i hear they work better fir soil than hydro...

you set the water level for where it splashes up on the sides of the netpot.Water does not need to touch the netpot. That's what the bubbles are for.You can lower that level later if you want, but there's no real reason for it

  11. I find 3 part more stable...

Personally with GH I use 3 part with Koolbloom and if using RO water, I'll use their new CALiMAGic...
Matter fact, that's what I was running for THIS BUD SHOT....

Well, not 100% true, it started with AN's lineup, then 30 days into flower, I changed to GH stuff above... ;)

  12. Lucas formula

    Use Reverse Osmosis water

    Flourecent lights

    5ml of GH FloraMicro/gal

    10ml of GH FloraBloom/gal

Top off with water for 10-14 days then change your rez again

I use bubble buckets so i use 3gal of water per bucket so if i use 3 gallons of water after topping off i change the rez as well

    MH/HPS

    8ml of Micro

    16ml of Bloom

  13. Just keeping everyone informed my babies are vegging out getting over 2ft and I also added two seedlings, lucas formula kicks ass! No deficiencies or overdoses, I highly reccomend spending coin and getting at least a 400w light, I purchased a sunleaves micro sun 400w mh/hps fixture with built in everything lol, it stays cool and shines bright, get mylar too! Happy growing!

  14. Good to hear everything is going well. Are you gonna try a scrog?

  15. Probably not since i remove my buckets when changing nutes, so scrog would be a pain, i may not need to tie it up at all the stalk is thick and barky and the main stems are thick, it seems to be supporting itself at the moment. Sorry im on a phone so o cant upload pix besides my avatar. They are preflowering now and they are female, thank God, for real

  16. imho to maximize yield, get a good strain and let it veg out longer 30 days is great but 60 is phenomanal, bubble buckets are much faster than soil which allows the 30 day veg compared to 60 days in soil so it grows 50% faster because it is like living in the playboy mansion for plants lol, no bugs no scum, no mold or fungi, and no diseases :hello:

Tie buds up if they seem like they will break the plant, but scrog is over rated, think about this... Do yo have the ability to scrog outside in a field? You might scrog a soil grow in a closet, but just turning the plants 1/4 turn a day and proper lighting will give you the same result, if u got drain holes then go for it, but my cheap ass has buckets and net pots with hydroton so i dont feel like taking scrog on and off every 10 days to change nutes and check my levels, i break enough fan leaves accidently as ot is i would accidently break of branches, and fuck that lol:wave:

  17. That's good to hear that they are female. It sucks to put so much time and effort into something and get no return. That's why I only buy feminized seeds. Also if you set up your grow right, you dont have to move your bucket to change your rez. You just install a drain valve on the bottom of your bubblebucket and fill right through the net lid and you can enjoy much larger yields. Just some food for thought.
