1st time grow, germination question nutrients

Discussion in 'Growing Marijuana Indoors' started by champazzi123, Nov 12, 2014.

  1. What's up fellas. Brand new grower right here and just getting together my tent fans lights etc. ordered some seeds should all be here next week. Anyways I have a 4x4x7 tent
1000w light & ballast system with some fans as well.

    GERMINATING
-I know how to get the little white root coming out, but after that I put it in a cup with soil and root pointed down and then what? Leave it near a window for a couple days until it sprouts? Or put it under my grow setup(thinking it's too powerful) ? Or a regular house light?
Then I'm confused about once it sprouts, once I see a couple leaves start growin can I take it out of the cup and put it in a bigger pot under my setup?

Also a question about nutrients. What's the recommended soil and nutrients for indoor indicas?

Thank you and hope to hear from some experts, once I know this I'll be in the clear as this is the only thing I'm confused about :)

  2. What I do is yes place then into a Red Solo Cup with the roo down and then i water is pretty good and leave it in the dark high humidity until it starts to sprout. Once they do ill put them under the light. But I wpuld recommend setting your ballast at half power until they get bigger. Nd some good soil is happy frog or ff. U shouldnt habe to add any nutes until about 3rd week or month be carefull not to over feed start slow n work up.

  3. And I would wait until roots have taken up.most space in solo cup then transplant into bigger pot but by doing that your adding more soil with some nutes already in them. At transplant ill usually go with all happy frog because it has less amounts of nutes in them so I can add more without risk of over feeding.. good luck first grow u always learn a thing or two. And what sie fan u got pulling air for that 1000 watt? If done right in that 4x4 tent u could have some NICE looking plants

  4. I usually put my seedlings in my tent under my 1k mh right when I plant them. I just life the light off them so it's about 4-5 feet higher than the soil. And then I slowly lower it after they sprout. As long as you keep your temps in order the light shouldn't hurt them.

  5. Also I usually take a drill bit and heat with a torch it up then make holes with a diameter of about 1/3 a inch in the bottom of the solo cup. After about a week you will see little white roots at the holes in the bottom at that point they will be ready to be transplanted

I agree with all the above posts. Seeds don't really like light, but they love a warm constant temp. Best place to find that is in a  tent with a light.
The only fertilizer I use is Jacks Blossom Booster, but don't use any until plant is mature and roots are established, and then only very small amounts like 1/2 teaspoon per gallon.

  7. Cool, makes things much clearer. I won't add any nutrients until I start 18/6 when I add to big buckets. I add it to the big buckets when it's sprouted 4 leaves correct? 2 round 2 pointy and use the full power lighting just 18/6 until they're ready to flower I'll go 12/12
