1st Perpetual closet grow from start! Chocolope, LSD, Red Dragon and more

Hello everyone!
This will be my 3rd official grow! I used to post on this site under the name hangook420 but for some reason that account is not letting me see pics!
I haven't grown for nearly two years now and have been itching to grow! I missed it soooo much! Anyways let's get to the project.

Now that I am limited to space(I was fortunate enough to find some!)! I have decided to go with a closet grow using cfls(wish I could use hps again).
The space I am using is 2' w x 1.5' d x 4.5' h. The width and depth of the two boxes will be the same but the flowering box will be 2.5' tall while the veg will be 2' tall. The veg box was completed today! I will be posting pics by tomorrow of my veg box setup.
With these two boxes I will be aiming to have a variety of mothers and at the same time crank out 3/4 oz or more of bud every 1-2 weeks. I have already ordered Chocolope, LSD, and Red Dragon which came with free seeds, LA Woman and Rocklock(on their way!!!) All seeds are feminised and all will be turned into bonsai mommies! And I will order humboldt and another more sativa strain for the bonsai mommy collection!

This grow was inspired by a thread a read a 3 years ago that I've always wanted to try. A guy using similar space made a thread about growing with cfls and pumping out 3/4 oz or more of some premium quality bud. And he did it! And recently I saw another journal who was doing the same thing with around the same amount of space!

So I will be doing a similar set up and will post on a weekly basis with pics sharing my joy with all of you fellow hobbyist.

Btw I have a question for all the experienced cfl growers. How much wattage should I use for vegging 7 mommies and cloning? I was thinking of using around 126w since they will be small mommies and won't need to produce many growth sites. If not I will have to add more fixtures to my box!

I'm thinking of which organic nutrient line I will use and what type of organic grow medium!

For the nutrient line I'm thinking of going either
-advanced nutrients iguana juice or
-botanicares pure blend pro.
Any suggestions???

For soil either
-Bio Terra PLus by Bio Canna or
-some soil with some bone meal from home depot and perlite. Thinking the Bio Terra Plus will be good for my organic grow.
Any suggestions? other organic mediums perhaps? coco??

Well here are some pictures of my veg box for mommies and clones!
Still have to put in a ventilation system. Thinking of using 55 cfm dayton 3.25" axial fan for veg and 105 cfm 4" axial for flowering.

So the dimensions are 2 ft w x 1.5 ft d x 2 ft h.
Got some bagseed seedlings in there. Some seeds my buddy collected from herbs he's picked up in the past. Counting more on the feminised seeds to come (hopefully they will arrive shortly!)

So any ideas on how many watts of cfl I should have in my veg box for 7 mommies and few clones?

 

Well I see that no one has yet posted on my thread except for me *sigh*.. Well hopefully the deeper I get into my grow the more interesting it will be.

My seeds should be arriving sometime this week! MMMmmmmm.... All the yummy strains!!

So I got to set up my flowering box now! Thinking of putting those bagseeds straight into flower when seeds arrive. So my flower box will consist of 6x42w cfls horizontally placed. Was thinking of going with 150 hps because lumens are pretty equal(150hps 16,000 or 252w cfl 16,800 lumens) But figured yes I will be spending more on electricity but I will also be able to have the plants closer to the bulb not to lose light intensity.

BTW how close can you put a 150w hps to the tops of plants??

Any feedbacks, comments or help would be much appreciated!!

So I received my seeds today! I got my chocolope! LSD! Red Dragon! LA WOMAN! and Rocklock!! Super fast shipping got here in only 4 business days! Will start germinating them tomorrow!!! I can't wait!
Move over bagseeds seedlings! Awesome strains seedlings will be taking over!

i will also finally be installing my ventilation tomorrow for my veg box! Getting 2 awesome 88 cfm/33db 120mm pc case fans. One for veg and one for flowering. I'm thinking it will sufficient considering my veg box is 6 cubic feet and my flower box 7.5 cubic feet.
I will be attaching the fans to a computer power supply which I pulled out of an old computer which was not being used anymore! Get's rid of the hassle of wiring or looking for 12v adapters. Just plug em in to the 4pin connectors and plug the power supply to the power outlet! I will be able to plug a max of 5 fans into the comp power supply and only use one power outlet!!

Hello GC!!
So I bought a 79 cfm fan today and plugged it in to my computer power supply. It doesn't work! I think the power supply is dead so I'm going to have to look for another one tomorrow.
Also ordered 4 more fans today. One for the exhaust for the flowering box and the rest for inside the box for the ladies.
Hope I could find a power supply! If not I'll have to buy one.. otherwise gonna have to spend 40-50$ on a new computer power supply.
Well I attached the fan to the box cuz I wanna get things going. When I get the power supply just plug and play!

Don't worry I will constantly be updating this journal(for both GC and for me!) till the I have to stop this perpetual grow. I'm guessing people aren't so interested right now cuz it's just starting to come together. Anyways hopefully this journal will go for longer than a year!

Thanks for the support Plethora! I'm glad to see your interested in my grow! Are you planning on running a perpetual grow as well? Will you be having mothers and clones? Will you be vegging the clones for a while before putting them into flowering? Do you plan on having many mothers? how many? Are you going to use SOG method? All this will determine how to use your space! Maybe instead of having them stacked it would be better for you to have them side by side? It all depends on how you plan to grow! You definitely can use a hps in that space if you don't stack the boxes. but it also depends on how much space you will need to veg.

On the question of cfls. I would have loved to have gone with a 150-250w hps but the space I have is not ideal for such small space. If I were to put in a hps lamp I would have to keep the plants 1/2 ft to 1 ft away from the lamp depending on how hot the bulbs get(not so sure how hot they are but I know a 400w hps can get pretty hot!) and I only have 2.5 ft of height to work with! Plus I'd have to spend a lot more on ventilation getting stronger fans!
I've recently seen a grow in GC by KillaKush where he packed his box with cfls and grew some nice wholesome buds! Just need to use a lot of bulbs!
If you are working with small height and area I think cfls can do wonders. Only way to test it out though is by continuing this grow!!

So here's and update!!
Still waiting on acquiring a pc power supply(that works!!!)
Other than that;
3 of 5 seeds have germed!! The LSD, Chocolope, and LA Woman! I also noticed before trying to germ, that the rocklock was cracked!! Don't think it will germinate but will try anyways!
I've planted the seeds into plug trays where they will spend their time developing a good root system before being transplanted!
Also germed the rest of my bagseeds prior to germing the feminized seeds and have planted two. Both have sprouted and have started their journey!

Here are some pics.
Seeds are in plug trays, covered in press n seal for humidity. The other five that are sprouted are bagseeds unknown strain. Gonna put them into flowering as soon as the flower box is constructed! Don't really care for keeping the strain; want to have strains that no one in my area has!

Plethora my set up is also for personal stash! And I find that this method with the space that I have will be perfect to get what I need on a regular basis using the sog method. And yes more variety is always good! As for your grow, if you ever need help, I would love to help you plan it out! Love to design grows! Oh and I think you will have enough space so you won't need to knock down your closet wall(just more work and mess) but then again the extra space could help add more variety and produce more buds! I smoke about a half oz per week and the space that I have should be able to yield me this if not a bit more per week or two. It's great that you are doing research before growing! But actual practice makes perfect!

So what I will basically doing is making clones(once my mommies are set up) and adding them into the flowering box every week or two(haven't decided yet.) Basically once the first is batch is ready to harvest, I will have another one ready in a week or two! Constant supply of sweet homemade buddha!

Seeds do take a bit longer but it'll be worth it! Plus I got the bagseed that I wil be putting into flowering without making mommies.
I'm thinking of trimming the seedlings during vegetation as they grow to become bonsai moms and see if I can clone from growth site trimmings! Wonder if I will be able to clone the plant 2-3 weeks in. If I can it would be awesome! maybe I would turn my clones into mothers and flower the original seedling plants. We will see! First time cloning btw! Hopefully all will go well!

Quick and short update!
I purchased the items i needed to build my flower box! I will go through the steps of building my box when I start building it! All i did today was stick the black/white reflective material on two walls. The idea is to get it done to all 6 side of the box before assembly!

So here's what I bought!

Home depot:
1x(4ftx8ft) 5/8" thick fireboard cut into the following pieces(with cut approx 33$)
3x (2ftx1.5ft) for top, base and shelf
2x (1.5ft x 2.5ft) for sides
8x Y-sockets for bulbs (~32$)
8x socket plugs (~28$)
weatherstrip(helps alot with making sure your box is air tight and light tight!) (~5$)

Wal-Mart:
5x 3 cfl pack 26w(~50$)
1x digital timer (~16$)
2x 2power bar packs(total of 4 power bars ~16$)

*plus taxes for all the prices!

So I will be having 16x26w clfs! Wonder what that will do!
1,750 lumens x 16 bulbs = 28,000 lumens
28,000 lumens / 3 square feet = 9,333.33333 lumens per square feet!!

I'll post up some picks as I'm building the grow box so I can show you guys the set up!
