2018 Outdoor - MHM and DOS

Discussion in 'Outdoor Grow Journals' started by StickyBudHound, May 19, 2018.

  1. So I had these extra clones from my indoor perpetual grow and decided to see what two of them will do outdoors. Here's a link to that grow if you want to have a look. They're on day 63 and new pics were added today.

The strains for outdoor are Mount Hood Magic (MHM) and Dosidos (DOS). I put them in the ground on May 15th; they're only on day 4. Day 1 was a beautiful day but, it was followed by 3 cooler days and overcast. I wasn't sure they'd make it but, as of this morning, they've each grown about an inch and look good.

I'm using Ocean Forest soil with a bump of rabbit manure mixed in. The nutes I'll be using are the FoxFarm liquid trio - Big Bloom, Grow Big and Tiger Bloom and, they'll also be receiving FF Open Sesame, Beastie Bloomz, and Cha Ching when the timing is right.

I intend to top each twice if not 3 times depending on how tall they end up trying to grow. If you've ever grown either of these outdoors, I'd love to learn from your experience!

Pics below - DOS is first, then MHM.

  2. Day 9

The sun has shown bright for the past 4 days and these little ladies seem to be enjoying themselves. I've watered 3 times so far and gave them some nutes for the first time yesterday. Lol, not really much to see yet but, the MHM has grown around 5 to 7 inches just in the past few days. The DOS pushed up maybe 4 inches. Both seem healthy though.

  3. Day 25

Both are doing very well! Only gave 1 feeding so far.

Had rain for the past few days and they're no worse for the wear.

DOS in front and MHM in back. MHM is about 16" and the first top is doing great. DOS is about 12" and just as good in health.

  4. Day 30

These girls are gonna be hard to hold back.

MHM is 21" from dirt, DOS is 15".

They look pretty happy, don't you think?

  5. Day 36

I got rid of a few lower branches and worked out a way to LST these girls. The base on my MHM is already about an inch diameter. DOS isn't far behind.

We had 4 days in the high 80s to mid 90s and they're loving it! Today is a cool 70. It's a good break.

Thanks! Had to do something to keep them lower. Can't hide the smell of the bud but, hoping to keep them out of sight as much as I can.

    IMG_20180704_131412.jpg IMG_20180704_131418.jpg Day 49 - July 4th

Topped these beautiful girls today. Took off 10 tops each.

MHM is 39" from soul and DOS is 30". Fed them for their first real feeding yesterday and the seem like they grew at least 4" since. Looking great so far.

  9. Day 52

I defoliated a little today to remove some of the future larf and spread out the main stalks. I left a few behind for clones later.

Wow! They're at 45" on the MHM and 36"on the DOS and they each have a 1.5" across base. The difference between indoor and out door is unbelievable! With the start of flower starting at about September 17th, I don't think I'm gonna stop them from achieving more than a 6 foot height.... Lol

MHM on left, DOS on right.

    Day 58

Today was the 3rd day over 90. Not much vertical growth but each has bushed out a lot since I tied the main 10 branches to bamboo sticks and thinned them out a bit since my last post. There's almost no separation between plants anymore. It will be time for a defoliation soon.

  11. Day 64

A bit of verticle growth and a lot of Bush added. I'll be defoliating and removing some clones soon, in a few weeks.

  12. Day 70

    Bigger, taller, bushier, beautiful.

MHM on left, DOS on right. MHM is about 58". That space is about 7' wide.

  13. Day 71

They needed a bit of defoliation.

  14. Day 92

    I have trees........ :pimp:

They're each around 6'6" and very bushy, as you can see. So far, so good.

  15. I like how you used the retaining wall stones. Thinking about using them arround my bags about halfway up next year. Think that they would help hold a little more heat in the soil if I end up with a cold spring. Then in summer maybe slow down some of the evaporation on the sides of the bags.

  16. I've always liked garden stone. It's very versatile. That area was too small for these plants though. Next year, my outdoor grow will be far different.

  17. I am thinking about putting them around 100 gallon bags, maybe bigger have not decided if I want to go larger. Then what ever I go with for a single larger plant currently using a 500 but may go bigger on that. I use them them already for making raised rows alongside bricks and pavers but would need to purchase a lot more if I wanted to circle big bags. Next season I plan on going with a more permanent setup for my outdoor girls and figuring out what I need to acquire before then. They are lower priority then other stuff but I tend to grow my girls for looks and they would give my site a much cleaner look.

  18. I noticed a weird couple of leaves on one of the tops and found this little caterpillar critter snuggled in the leaf. I removed the top and inspected for any sign of others and I don't see any. No experience with these. Because I found this one, should I be concerned they're throughout the plant though I can't see signs otherwise?

  19. Day 108

Ready for the inevitable Oregon rain to begin well before harvest.
