Hey everyone, this is my first grow and i have a few questions. here are my grow specifics: 400w HID grow light with digital ballast. mylar reflective grow tent, fan. Ive only used blood meal and bone meal (both organic) used only a couple times in the entire grow. no other chemicals used, pretty much natural. my first question is...why are my buds so small, but plentiful? my second question is....how much longer until i harvest? (i lost track of how long this grow has been. i know i started them in April 2012.) ive attached some pictures of my ladies as well. Any help would be greatly appreciated. the plants are fairly short, with little clusters of buds all over them. is this normal?
I flowered them about 2 months ago. That's just a rough estimate. But I didnt always have the grow tent and light. They started out in a cabinet with some cfls. You think I might have flowered them too early?
what light do you have? your low yield is from growing with CFL, they don't have enough power and the plant grows scrawny.
It's an ipower 400w hps light with a ballast. Bought from amazon. It puts off good light and heat for my 3 plants. You think using the cfls for the veg stage would have stunted their growth?
Yeah, CFL's just don't have the power, unless you're really running high actual wattage and have the bulbs like 2-3" away from the leaves if you're trying to veg, I'd use a MH bulb in that ipower setup, or even get some T5 lights like me so you can veg while flowering under the HPS
Ok so what do you think I should do with my ladies now? Should I cut em and dry em or how much longer do you think I still have for bid growth?
get a jeweler's loupe or magnifying glass and look at the trichomes at 50x-100x they start clear, then turn cloudy/hazy, and finally red. when the clears are all but gone and you're seeing 5-10% red, it's time to harvest
Yea some of the trichomes are already visibly orange. I guess I was just hoping that the buds would get bigger lol. I'll harvest them when I get home. Thanks for your help man. Hopefully mu next grow will be a little better.
with a solid grow and good HPS power all thru flower, you'll get some nice solid nugs out of the next batch
