1st grow , indoors and outdoors

Discussion in 'First Time Marijuana Growers' started by Bagseed1239, Jul 8, 2018.

  1. I was recently gifted 10 beautiful bag seeds , all but 2 sprouted . I am starting all 8 plants indoors . Notice that this was a spur of the moment decision and I have no expectations for this grow . I started them with 3 CFLs about 4 days ago and will be ordering a 300w mars hydro on Monday (actual output of ~ 150w) so between the led and the cfls I will have ~275 actual watts in my closet I plan to veg them all in my closet until they can be sexed , then I will toss the males . I plan on taking all of the plants excepted for the best looking female outside in 5 gallon buckets ( I understand that I will be putting them out later than usually recommend but I just want to see how it goes). My main question is about my indoor grow . I plan on using my closet . Currently I have my plants vegging in a fish tank surrounded on 3 sides by a car window reflector . Once I remove all the other plants it will just be the best looking plant in a 5 gallon bucket planted in kindsoil + cheap potting soil . My main concern is if the lighting and reflection I will be providing (only 3 sides covered) will be enough for a plant to properly flower ? (I know a few of these plants look suspect and will probably be tossed if things don’t improve , the plant that is almost all the way bent over has been supported with a string since the picture was taken )

  2. Best to use lumins since wattage varies by the efficiency of the type of light.....here is a some good reference numbers for light coverage.....
Using HID lights (HPS and MH), the basic rule of thumb for ok coverage is....
    400w bulb for 3x3ft area
600w bulb for 4x4 ft area
1000w bulb for 5x5 ft area
Lumens is a better measure for coverage, and thats in this attachment....YT Screenshot_2018-07-08-04-20-41.png

  3. It will be around ~6000 lumens and the area it will be covering in my closet is around 2.5ft x 1ft . Close to the minimum So I suppose I’ll give it a try
