been at it for a few years now but its always been ground level. My new basement is fully finished with new windows, a fireplace and a door at the top of the stairs. theres a bedroom down there but i dont want toblow exhaust out ground level windows. I thought the fireplace was ideal, exhaust out the roof instead of an open window with fixtures holding up vent ducting constantly blowing loud air into my yard. i do have neighbors unfortunately. ive heard about making negative pressure down there but im pretty sure with the updtated windows it should be good any ideas?
You may need a booster fan to go up the chimney.. but its a great way to get that air out.Sent from my SGH-I747M using Grasscity Forum mobile app
Untrue... A chimney creates a natural airflow...as long as you are venting the exhaust as low as possible it will actually increase the CFM output of your inline fan. This is how we do it coming from a heating and cooling background.
And as far as your negative pressure goes, yes it can cause a big problem if you have a TON of air going out. The last place I did this at we had so many fans going that it would SLAM the basement door on it's on and you could smoke from anywhere in the house and it would pull it all into the basement very quickly...this can be very bad. If you are running 1 exhaust only like a 6 inch or an 8 inch as long as you supply some air back into the room or allow air to come back into the room without light leak you should be ok...If it is a huge issue for you then you are going to have to vent fresh air from outside somehow
