Im going to attempt my first grow, so i built this pc grow box to get them started. Ive got three pc fans hooked up and running but im afraid it wont be enough. Three 100W CFLs. I bought a seed starter kit with the soil discs that you just have to get wet. Is that ok to start with or should i just buy some soil? any other suggestions or advice? Thanks dudes.

  2. Im working on my first grow using CFL's as well, not sure I will stick with these next time to be honest, honestly just use soil with disposable pots, the pots are made of all natural shit so when you move to a bigger pot the roots will grow right through it.

Really thats my only advice is start with the small disposable pots, you will skip the whole "Transfer Stress Process"

  3. Are you gonna be growing in soil or soil-less?

  4. Soil. But I got a starter kit that has the soil discs in them. I thought about trying it.

  5. I started in soil a few years ago. The trick to soil is to get ur mix right the first time. I would start with some Light Warrior plant starter soil. Then grab a bag of Fox Farm's Ocean Forest and a small bag of perlite. When transplant is "needed" (not when u think, the plant will tell u) mix 60% Ocean Forest with 20% Light Warrior and 20% perlite.

That should have you pretty nice for a few months.

  6. So it's been five days in my box. I started 4 seeds and I'm yet to see any action. I though something should be poking out of e top by now at least. My concerns are temp. I haven't bought a thermometer yet, plan on going today. Only running two 100W CFLs 18/6. They seem to dry out pretty fast but I'm worried about watering too much. Just been using a spray bottle and getting them damp. Help a rookie out!

On a side note a buddy of mine is trying to start a seed just by putting it in a glass of water. We always just put them in damp towels in school to start seeds. I thought that would drown it? Thanks dudes.
