So I've been working on this truck for the last few months. It's been in the family since it was new. I decided to destroy it and see how far I can take it. I've broken damn near everything in the drivetrain to see how far I can push it. Everything has been upgraded, I did a minor resto on the inside. It has a new 383 stroker that I built for the Z71 But that has a 454 instead now :] sm465 tran 205-t-case, Corp 14 bolt FF with detroit 4:10 gears. Dana 60 front with ARB. Currently not installed. Here's pictures
always wanted a k5 blazer, but the rot is unreal in maine and you can't find one worth buying. closest thing i had was an '85 chevy shortbed, 5" lift with 35" baja claws. had the 350, 4spd w/granny low. only thing i hated was that it was carb'd. my dad has an '87 GMC, the only year that body style was fuel-injected. its dank.
Oregon has tons of rain. It's easy to fix rust. we just cut it and put a new piece of steel in it's place lol. That's the good thing about knowing how to fab This truck really didn't have much rust, my uncle put tons of rustolium on it back in the day.
we get calcium and salt on the roads in the winter, so its not unusual to see cars <15 years old that are already rusted out. ten years old, even.
Yea that is bad for the cars, I would rather it be salt and gravel here then chems though. in my city we use gravel but Portland uses chems. If people payed for a good undercoat they could save those cars.
Nice ride. I love the older blazers. My dad had a '75 for years that he loved. Got rid of it about 5 years ago, though, due to it being such a hog on gas. Now he just has his '72 dodge fargo for snow plowing.
Got my steering arm off a couple weeks ago. Took about a year but it finally came loose after 15 can of lube and a 10 lb Hammer.
Good lord look how teeny a small block is in that thing! More like the Chevy Titanic! Sick truck though, I would daily the shit outta that!
