So Ive been growing outdoor most of my adult life. Roughly 20 years. However this year will be the first year I attempt a full indoor grow. Ive done indoor a couple times but not the right way at all. A friend of mine is selling me a 16x12 tent and a 12x12 tent. He also has 8-10 1000hps deb with a/c hoods that I'm also buying. The tents won't be sealed right now because I cant afford the AC at the moment. So I'll be cooling the lights, and having constant in and out ventilation (for summer anyway) My main question is can I get away with 4X1000w hps for a 16x12 tent? or should I go with 6x1000w? I know that 4x1000 I'm a little under the low side of the 25-50w per square foot rule of thumb. I think I already know the answer but just figured Id see what some experienced indoor guys think.
Not sure about the double end bulbs. Rule of thumb with singles was 1000 per 4x4. I know de is more efficient, but I don't think they're that much more. Sent from my XT1093 using Tapatalk
General rule of thumb is 50-75 watts per sq ft 16x12= 192 sq ft 192x50= 9600 watts At minimum you want 9600 watts. 25-50 watts I believe is more for leds Also 1000w covers 4x4 ft or 16 sq ft 192sqft / 16 = 12 1000watters They are DE so you may get away with less. Also good luck cooling that. I run 2 600 hps in cool tubes and theose get hot
Depends how many plants you putting in there too not like your lighting up the whole tent just your growing area which should be slightly smaller then tent at max anyway 6 would do it if I had the choice I would go for 10 600s over 6 1000s
I have a 16'x16'x10' room and run 16 1000watt hps 10 are in cool tubes 6 hanging vertically with 12 plants in room. I have 4 8" vortex on the cool tubes a 12" vortex extraction and a 12" intake. this time of year where I live I don't need a.c. outside temps around 0 c and room temps are 22 c lights off and 28 c lights on but in the Sumer I run 3 1/2 tons of a.c. to keep temps in check.
