So this is my first grow and is actually a re post from another forum section. I've got a 4x4x7 tent and a 210cfm exhaust fan w/ a carbon filter arriving tomorrow. Currently I've got a 150w, 400w and 4 100w CFL(daylight). I started with bag seed. 6 seeds germinated on March 15 6 seeds germinated on March 17 So far of the 12 seeds 7 are sprouts 2 more are almost ready for light and 3 more I'm waiting on. Germinating seeds are in cups w/ saran wrap and heaters, sitting right @ 87 degrees. The 7 sprouts are currently under 3 100w-26w CFLs, gonna add one more tomorrow. I'm going to add a 150w HPS in about 2 weeks. I'll probably add 1-3 more CFLs depending on how they're looking. Sitting right @ 78 degrees, fan blowing over the box. Ideas for next grow: - PVC- About $4.50 ea, some disassembly required . -Hydroponic 11 plant system- I'll probably wait a while before I build one of these. -LST/SoG/SCRoG- More for the sake of learning how to do it, I have plenty of space for the amount of plants I want to grow. Tips more than welcome!
Yo Penguin where'd you get that tent? I'm actually thinking about doing the same. It's just way more convenient. I was thinking about that size too. Good luck man! Your pics weren't working in that other thread BTW.
Exactly how often should I be watering my seedlings? I've got the cotyledons and the first two real leaves are still smaller than the cotyledons. 24-7 under about 3600 lumen cfl~6-8"
I kept my soil fairly moist until I got my first true leaves. I then backed off a bit to give the roots a chance to breathe. My last watering was on Day 18 and my next one probably won't be until at least day 23 or 24. I spray them down every time I open the box. They seem to like it so far.
MM MM k, I'm using 50% perlite, 50% soil atm and I'm pretty sure it can't hold the water that long. I guess I'll just wing it and see how they respond.
You're probably right on that. My soil's a bit denser than yours and it was definitely ready for water at the 5 day mark.
I've kinda rearranged to get my plants closer to the lights, they're about 3-5" away now. I also took 3 of the younger plants out of the box and put a 100w cfl on them, it was getting too crowded with the big light shields. My tent came in yesterday and it is pretty big, but I'm adjusting to the exterior size and the interior size is just a dream. I haven't set up lights or exhaust in it yet because I wont need it for a bit. The CFLs are going to stay on the plants for about another week then I'll add the 150w hps once the first leaves are fully grown. Transplant to bigger 3 gallon pots 2-3 days after, let them do their thing for a few more weeks and start to flower. The major goal of this grow is to produce some pot but learn what I'm doing in the process. I have 11 plants at the moment under lights which is more than my 4x4x7 +550whps can handle for flowering. I'm betting on at least half being male since they're bag seed which would put me down to an appropriate range for my space/lights. If I don't get any males. I'll probably choose the best 5 or 6, cut the rest and pray for wins. Starting with nutes in about 2 and a half weeks. They should be looking pretty snazzy tomorrow, so I'll try to post some pics if I can.
I've been growing the little guys and a couple were stretching a bit so I decided to move the light closer. One of the plants was much taller than the other ones so I am trying to get the light as close as possible to that one. It also has some yellow discoloration towards the center of the first leaves. I'll post pictures in about an hour, also cleaning all my pieces so I'll post pictures of those when they're done also.
cant wait to see how ur babys are looking, im gonna take some new pics tomorrow and i moved my plants closer to the light aswell, my temps are between 75-86 which is pretty decent. besides the point i wanna see how ur girlies are doing, mines are starting to get there second set of leaves...lets hope for the best!!
The yellowing on this plant raises questions any possible answers would be lovely, this is also the plant that stretched the most. Another view of the same plant, yellowish @ the centers of the leaves. Another pic of the same, this time of the stem. I moved the light fairly close as you can see. Little guy doin his thing. About the same size as the first but much less tall. Chillin' out catchin' some rays. This one has the most developed second set so far. This is another view of the one above. Slight yellowing on the tips of the plants? I watered on Wednesday, Friday and again today, I'm using 50-50 perlite/soil and the soil seemed dry today. Should I give them an extra day or what? Feel like the discoloration may be over watering.
i have no idea imma noob still lol, but so far i think there looking fine, im about to take some pics of mine right now but my camera is not that crisp but they look about the same...keep up the good work
I don't really know what would cause it or if it's a serious problem or not, but I'd say your best bet is to keep an eye on it and see if it gets worse. It's still early and you have plenty of others to fall back on if there really is a problem. They all look pretty good to me.
Thanks for the help hard drive, I figured as much. I'll step it back to every 3 days and see how that goes, keep moving it back 'til it's all good. Thanks again.
Annnnd it's almost 4:20 time to head out for a drive, I need to find some people to smoke with in my area...
