I had a quick question for all you closet growers out there. I see these fluorescent grow lights on ebay, that supposedly emit 8000+ lumens of light, and no heat, for considerably less than buying say a 70w hps that only gives about 4000 lumens. Would anyone know if these bulbs are as good as they claim, or if a good old fashionned HID can't be replaced? Thanks PS: here is the light I am referring to: http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&category=42225&item=4324602586&rd=1
Hi, Check out my threads in the Absolute Begginers section under headings 'flowering using 125w flouro - results' and '6 weeks flowering - any advice' You'll see pictures of my progress so far using a similar bulb. They do work and I've been really pleased with how the plants have come on. There are 2 types of bulb, BE CAREFUL you buy the correct one! The blue spectrum is for the growing stage and the red spectrum is for the flowering stage, most suppliers will have both types. In the UK these bulbs are about £40 - £45 ($70 ?) Best of luck with your growing. Polski
Reaper, Do a search on Google for envirolights, it should give you a few options depending on where you are in the UK. Most shops which sell hydroponic gear usually have them or should be able to get them for you. There's a couple of folk selling them on Ebay too, do a search for 'hydroponics' and you'll find them. They come in strong polystyrene boxes and should be OK for posting, but go to a shop if you're in any doubt. I'll send you a PM with the details of where I got mine. As for the comparison between these bulbs and HPS, I'll have to wait and see, but things are looking good so far. They're getting harvested next weekend. Polski
