How deep do you guys normally plant the seed and how long after you plant should she sprout? My last grow I used paper towel method but this time I didn't bother but I plated them maybe 1.5' deep? Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
1.5" is way too deep. You only want about .5"-.75" of soil on top of your seed. Also, planting seeds anywhere except for outside before germing them isn't a great idea in my experience. I'd honestly take em outta the dirt, germinate them properly (paper towel is fine) and pop em back in the dirt (root-down of course) when the taproot shows itself. Second, even in a tiny stealth wardrobe, don't go directly into 12/12 unless you want shit yield, even for the space you've allotted. Set up a mini SCROG, veg em at 18/6 or 24/0 until there like 1/3 of the way to your ceiling, THEN flip lights.
That's a great depth, anything between 1" and 2" is fine. Straight in to the soil is by far the best place for them. When growing in soil there is absolutely no reason to germinate them anywhere else. Have the soil very lightly damp, not wet and they will pop up within 3 days. warming the soil up to about 25℃ will shave a day off
hey Sensi, thanks for your advise mate, but if I am doing a 12/12 what's the point of a SCROG? and ive seen lots of 12/12 seed to harvest grows with good yields hey gold, ahh perfect that's what I like to hear, so hopefully the little ones will be poking there heads up tomorrow, how often do you water once they sprout? peace all
I'm not saying you won't get an ok yield 12/12 from seed, I'm saying vegging first will give you a higher yield every time, no exception (except autos of course which aren't photosensitive), including your stealth grow. A SCROG would simply involve putting a small amount of netting with1-1.5" holes about I'd say 1/3 of the way between the top of your pots and the top of your grow room. This way when the small-stemmed plants start to produce buds, since you can't likely fit stakes in there, the buds won't weigh the plant down, & they'll be spread out for maximum light exposure and therefore higher yield AND higher trichome coverage.
Also, I just re-read your original post, and saw this is your first photoperiod grow. I feel you may be misinterpreting the light schedule of cannabis. It's not simply that you choose to do 24/0 or 18/6 or 12/12, it's the change in light cycle that makes it a photoperiod plant. If you're wanting to go straight from seed to flower, you should have just gone with autoflowering again. Lowryder or White Dwarf or something compact but decent-yielding. Once again, not saying you can't grow from seed in 12/12, just that doing so will significantly affect yield compared to vegging for at least like a week or two and SCROGing, or using autoflowers for your situation.
