12/12 from seed and regeneration

Discussion in 'Micro Grows' started by Boss82, Dec 25, 2012.

  1. So I'm gonna start this grow, have some seedlings. Cluster bomb, northern lights, Buddha's sister (? Maybe), big bud, and some bag seed. I also have fast bud #2 auto from sweet seeds, and Pyramid Seeds Tutankhamon

I'll try to get pics up as I go this is all cfl 12/12 from seed using fox farm ocean forest and have fox farm big bloom for nutes . Have a closet set up 2'x5' 5.5'tall.

I want to experiment with harvesting the 12/12 then regenerating in 18/6 or 24/0 force veg. Anyone tried regeneration from 12/12 like this? And then when the new vegetation get a few nodes back to 12/12?

  2. I have done it so it revegges for several weeks. this worked ok. having a full root system really allows the foliage grow back fast. however it takes a couple of weeks for it to start growing properly so it can be just as fast to just make a clone right before you flower it. that clone will be ready to flower by the time they originals are finished

subbed cant wait to see results

  4. Subbed; I've done the 12/12 from seed before with good results. May go that way again when I'm sure my current setup is dialed in.

  5. Alright. the regeneration was just an idea. This is my first grow. So, working with clones should I let them root at 18/6 or 24/0 ? And when root are good straight into 12/12? I plan on everything that I can will be 12/12. My main reason for doing 12/12 is having enough light coverage. I have a 125w and a bunch of 23w cfls. Eventually going to 250 or 400w hps. Funds are super low. I've invested around $120 so far.

Also any suggestions or recomendations for good 250w or 400w hps kits? Thanks :smoking:

  6. I like to start veg for the first few weeks in 24/0 i find i get more growth this way. After a few weeks i like to cut it back to 18/6 to save on electricity. Also i got the lumatek ballast and an enclosed hood. I highly recommend using a cool tube or a nice hood. being able to suck the heat right out from the bulb is really an advantage because it allows you to get the light so close. If your on a tight budget though might want to think about just running cfls for this grow.

  7. you can flower the clones while they are rooting, straight after or veg for as long as you want. the longer you veg, the bigger they will be so the more bud they will produce, but they will take longer. so it depends what size light you have and your head room really

if your on a tight budget then cfls maybe best for you because the initial spend is less and the actual watt usage is less than the rated watts. hps is the opposite, they use more watts than they are rated. because of the higher watts used by the hps they do give off more light and heat. more heat means bigger ventilation fans and this means more electricity, but you will most likely get more yeild so its all swings and round abouts really

if you were able to take them on 2x 250watt hps would do really well in that space but that may be too many watts for you to take on. 4x 125watt cfls with reflectors would also go well. you can go less but if your planning to use all of the 10 square feet you will have to spread the light as evenly as possible

    How it's looking so far:hello:
Starting from left Buddha's sister, cluster bomb, and bag seed. Also have 3 coco pellets that have a germinated big bud seed in each. I may have sprouted to much. Another reason for 12/12 is keeping size down because I got to high and germ'd too many seeds :)

  9. Ok new additions to the family :hello: 3 big bud and 1 northern lights seedling. Two of the BB had roots that pushed through the bottom of the coco pellets thingy one had I root sticking out that was almost 3 inches. I have never seen a root shoot out of one of those like that ever. I'm taking it as a sign of a healthy plant.

My day time temps get around 80F with 50% ish humidity and last night temp dipped to around 65F with humidity at 100%. I may need to invest in a small heater. Any suggestion for a safe small and cheep little spall space heater. Would a heating pad possably do the trick. And looks like I need to keep a fan on 24/7 to keep humidity low?.

Also am using homemade yeast+sugar+water co2 maker.

  10. Im currently on a 12/12 from seed grow.
Today is day 17 and my chcocolope has hermed on me (1st in 6 years), I have another 2 on the go and Ive replaced him/her.

So far Im suprised at how well their doing and how fast they grow under this time schedule, not all strains like 12/12 from seed but if it wasnt for us trying we wouldnt get anywhere.

Good luck I`ll be popping in to see how things go ;)

  11. Cant wait to see theese things in a month or so. About how long after they sprouted did they show sex

  12. The biggest one is starting to give off a skunky smell :hello: ! I am trying a little LST on it. I think it's 17 days old. I'm at 10 plant now. I'm guessing at most 3 will be male. Deffinately at my maximum. I do have another 4 or 5 24w cfls. Also I made sure to get blue and red spectrum. I bought a cheep heater to try to keep temps between 70F and 80F.

  13. @ hybridky - no signs of sex yet at least another week.

  14. That would be good, and of course it is possible, but there are no guarantees.

Last time I popped 6 beans, 4 turned out to be males, so you just never know unless you're using fem seeds.

    Good luck! Should be fun!

  15. It is very fun. I'm feeling a little impatient lol but also very exciting getting up each morning to see more growth. Maybe I'll go into perpetual scrog after this :).

  16. Cant wait to see, results. Keep those pics coming.

Some new pics got a mystery seed ( the biggest one ) I named her Mia anticipating female :). Next is laughing Buddha, big bud, and last northern lights. Thanks for stopping by:hello:

  18. Mia is in her 4th day of flower :hello: !
Spotted a male the other day. Ripped it out :devious:
Everything seems to be running smoothly. I may buy a 250w hps with a track. Would that be sufficient lighting for a 2' depth x6 width x8 tall closet if I put the hps on a light rail/track?
I currently have 4 warm 3500k cfls and one 150w cfl that emits more blue spectrum of light.
Having a light rail would be a lot less clutter.
Also my cat went crazy on my 6mm black/white PVC sheeting that I had over the closet  so now there little holes. The room that the closet is in is kept dark when the dark cycle is on, so no problem with interrupting the cycle. But, I was a little pissed. Now I have I large piece of dry wall the I lean against the closet that is high enough that the cat can't get to it.
I think he saw the plastic moving from the fans blowing on it and thought it was something to play with :). I can't stay mad at him though he just too damn cute :hello:

  19. How long was it before they showed sex?
