Hi GC! Basically i have recently read about a lot of growers on other websites, (sorry GC Owners) who use an 11/13 light system for flowering. They said that the buds formed faster. But sometimes affected quality... I can see both sides of the arguement, i just wanted your opinions. I suspect most of you use 12/12, but anyone ever used 11/13? BY THE WAY, THATS 11 HOURS OF LIGHT, 13 OF DARKNESS. Thanks in advance! PlanA
it will make a smaller yield but it will mature faster... not worth it IMO, when u can just do 12/12 and it will only a week or so longer
ah... thanks for the advice guys. I'll keep them on 12/12. I'm just an inpatient bugger. But if its only a week longer or so, then its worth it. Cheers.
Hmm.... harvesting a week early sounds great to me... I just have one question. What if you've been going 12/12 for 5 weeks and you want to switch to 11/13. Do I just set the timer that way all in one shot... or should I put the plant in 36 hours darkness before adding 11L/13D just in case it may stress it... I don't want to screw up flowering my plant here, yield is an expected 4 ounces
go right from 12/12 to 11/13. the 36 hours of darkness is to "jumpstart" the flowering process, which your plant is already doing.
from what I have read a plant flowers beacause of a hormone called phytocrome which can only be produced when the light cycle is 16 hours or less. so by that rationale could a person flower a plant with a 13 on and 11 off or even a 14 on 10 off? and what kind of results would you get?
Yes. Depending on the strain which is further dependent on the latitude it is grown at. Some plants will flower with 14 hours of light. This might however lengthen the flowering time. In general, for indoor growing, unless your genetics specifically calls for it, just use 12/12.
