I have an old 1000k watt light. I believe its a sun crop 10. Its a flipable ballast but I never used it. How old should my babies be before I can run it on them? Can I put some young clones that my buddies been growing already under it? Id like to get something goin inside but don't got the money for a t5 yet.
You will be fine if you keep the light 3-4 feet above them for the first couple of days. Bigger plants wouldn't be an issue. BeZ...V
So right after they get the roots as babies they can go right under a 1000k watt light? I knew it'd have to be farish that wouldn't be an issue. I know nutes or half dose of nutes starting out just wasn't sure if this strong of a light would work. The guy at the hydro shop said no to use t5s and only this for flower it would be way to much light
You can use the 1000 far above the plant, but if you want less stretching and more branching, you can veg under the T5s and flower under the 1000.
As long as it far enough away, yes they will be fine. That light don't compare at all to the sun. T5's will do a good job vegging for sure, that's what I use but, if I could I would veg under a 1000w MH, I've seen what it does to a plant and its awesome. The plants I've seen vegged under the MH get real bushy a lot faster with less topping and training then Floros. Hydro store guys are generally idiots. There just trying to sell you something. He tells you that you have to have a T5 because its a sale. I can't comment on the "nutes" there not necessary and I don't use them (just another sale). BeZ...V
When you say you would rather veg under a 1000w MH is that also over a 1000 hps? I have 2 plants that are 6 feet tall and 1 thats 3 and they are all in a 4x4x7 grow tent. 1000w HPS is not too much?
Well hps is generally a flowering spectrum of light. Obviously they will grow under a hps but its said MH will keep them bushier. I've never vegged under a hps, but I have started flower under a MH. 1000w is not to much. Are your plants in flower? BeZ...V
Yah they are in their 2nd week about to go into the third. Ive always understood MH for vegging and HPS for flowering.
You can never have too much light, only too much heat. As long as you can deal with the heat of a 1kw, you're good to go!
Well you can when you are paying for it haha. Do the plants use all the light that is put out? or can they only absorb so much? Logically, you would figure there is a limit they can take in, their cells can only produce and hold a certain amount of energy no? Or are they just ever growing sexy beasts of smelly dankness?
