Hello everybody. .I currently have a 400 Watt hps..I'm looking to buy a 1000 watt Hps soon...is is a 1000 watt hps much hotter then a 400w?..I already have a blower for my 400w..will I need 2 blowers for this 1000w? If it is hotter then a 400w how much hotter is the 1000w over the 400w
1000s are a lot hotter i used to run them i switched to lumatek digital 600s and have yielded about the same while cutting way back on electricity
Just get an air cooled hood or cool tube to use with your 1000 watter. best way. I run two in a 4x8 air cooled and have steady temps at 79.
I'm in the same boat. 1000w are way to much heat to deal with, if you get a good 600w and a digital ballast you will be better off. 600 is also the most efficient wattage to lumen output then any other wattage.
If you are concerned about heat and still want to run 1000's, the best (but also most expensive way) is to get a digital 1000watt with the ballast mounted outside the grow space if possible, with a sealed and vented 8" hood such as Radiant or Xtrasun paired with an 8" or even 10" inline fan. Thanks Guy's. .the dude at the hydroponic store was telling me bout the 600 Watt lumateks..and like a dumb ass I bought the 1000w lol..I noticed that the 1000w didn't get much hotter then my 400w..guess when it's time to buy another light I get the 600w..thanks yawl again.
