I have recently made the big switch from all those bottled nutrients that are so called organic. I am now using only home made Compost and compost from a local mint farm to create my all organic soil. It includes earthworm castings, bat guano along with the home made compost and mint and mushroom compost. So far I am having some pretty incredible results after less than 2 weeks of applying this to my latest batch of clones. I attached a few pics from my current veg areas let me know what ya think. I know I'm excited to see what they will do. And the bigger ones are gonna be going into the bud room soon within the next week or so
Lookin good. I am on my first organic grow now, in fact I just chopped one plant this morning. I could not be happier.
Just wanted to say thanks Jerry I have spent many hrs on my phone reading all or your post Jerry's organic obsession and your soil mix sounds amazing. My and my boy just went to home depo and Menards and a local quality farm fleet looking for the special ingredients we found some of the things but I believe some must be out of season in the winter here in Michigan! If you have a chance and know of some good websites to order good Ewcs and some of other things I couldn't find we're alfalfa meal and kelp meal. I have been googling some but was wondering what sites or brands that you use. Also in another note I have some new pics to put on here with my results so far using my own pretty basic put together soil mix. I can't wait to reuse it and add many more new amendments!
The farm and feed store should have alfalfa feed year round. I'm no farmer but animals eat year round so.... yeah. Hopefully someone chimes in and says whether there are things in feed you need to look out for.
Heya Dg I believe I can speak for Jerry on this one because I believe we both frequent the same place. He may use others as well but this place is only 45 min from my house so I use it exclusively. Fedco - Co-op Seeds, Gardening Supplies, Trees, Potatoes, Bulbs As far as worm castings go I would really try and source them locally. There has got to be a store in your area that carries them. Call every nursery, farm, and feed store in the yellow pages. HTH MGB P.S. Not sure how close you are to this place http://www.gaiagreen.com/products.html. I did a search and found it after my original post. They should be able to take care of your needs.
Sweet Mgb thanks man those are good sites they should def do the trick for anything that I can't find around here. I'm really getting into this organic thing it's only been several weeks. I'm already seeing very good results with a mix of my own that was all pretty homemade scraps with a few amendments. And just water! As soon as I can get together all the right ingredients I plan on making up a whole bunch of really good organic soil that I will be planing on and very excited to be reusing it! I plan on trying to have everything I need ASAP so gonna be putting in my order for all of those things that I've been looking for. Then I have to wait for 4 weeks and ill be on my way and all set for my next batch of cuttings to be planted in the mix.
I use these very good folks - Organic Growers Supply cover crops, soil amendments & gardening supplies Good luck! J
Hey Jerry when you do the no-till you say you just pull out and cut the root ball off and just drop another on in! What about all the other roots that have traveled further into the soil? Do you just leave them and let your soil break them down? And what size pots can I do the no till with 10 gallon?

Thanks everyone who has been a big part of me making the change to the organic side. I only have a quick min but thought I'd add a coup pics to show how it's going. I plan on putting together my next soil mix on Monday night. I will get back and post all of the ingredients.
GoodBuds If your still having a problem finding good you should try calling local bait shops, the Ma & Pa places are more likely to raise there own worms, just find out what they feed em. I picked up two frozen bricks of compost so I know how you feel, got em for cheaper thou ha Welcome to Organics HaGGarD
Thanks Haggard I didn't think about that but now that you mention it. There's this nice lil country store that I go to for fishing bait. I bet they have their own worms or if they don't I can find out where they get em from. I know the lady that owns it she gave me all my pots for free. They have a nursery there when its more in season. I used to get some pretty good soil there that she was getting from a near by soil farm in Michigan. But never thought about getting worms from them!
