  1. think bookshelf is better idea for you, dont let the picture foot you, the bulb is about 12 inches long and about 5 inches in diameter

  2. for 2 plants you only need one.

  3. Alright, Thanks again.

So That means I would only have to spend around 30 bucks eh? I might as well buy some Perlite ( I heard from Flex its good to mix it in a ration of 3:1, 3 being potting soild, 1 being perlite). Can you confirm this?

For future, what nutes should I get? How much would some good soil with the 20-20-20 mix be?

So 30 For lights, and Im buying this strain : http://www.drchronic.com/products.asp?recnumber=809

That will cost me about 30ish buying from a friend...

So Im looking at 60 right now, all together

I also Think Im going to LST/SOG/SCROG my plants, but thats a whole `nother story ...

  4. Dier, I've look everywhere for the 65w flouro. Home depot quit carrying them but they do sell the 65w floro bulbs.

The only thing i saw at Home depot were the 75w HPS that looks just like the one Dier

    posted a link to.

Wal-mart has a 42w Flourex light for like 30-40. I think it has 9000 lumens or something.

Still more lumens than a 42 watt CFL by about 4000 lumens.
I think i saw 42w CFL's only putting out 2600 lumens or something.

That's all i've seen at big chain stores

  5. dont use perlite, Im a natural kinda guy, all god given things in my soil :)

Dont know what to tell you dude, keep looking or order from amazon, its a security light for christ sake.

  6. I was about to answer that but I read on and noticed that you found it, so yeah, I just quoted the page you posted.

It's basically a 65W flourescent bulb, nothing more, nothing less. Where are you getting the lumen output # from that you mention in a later post? I don't see it anywhere on that page you linked, and every other 65W/300W-equiv bulb I can find with Google only has 4500 lumens each (meaing it's actually about 13,500 lumens with 3 of them, or about half a 250W HPS):

    http://www.google.com/search?q=65W+fluorescent+lumens
    http://www.shop.com/op/~65w_Fluorescent_Bulb-prod-20104065-27603801?sourceid=298
    http://www.ezhydrokit.com/product_info.php?cPath=21&products_id=115

I didn't say it was a bad bulb or not to use it, I just said that it's not 900W of flouro lighting, it's 200W. And I also call into question the claim that it's twice the lumens of every other 65W flouro I can find.

  7. ~4410 lumens

    //edit

HID lights like HPS and MH are considered by most to be the most efficient in terms of lumens per watt. For example (#s are approx, may vary slightly by brand):

    250W HPS: 28500 / 250 = 114 L/w
    23W CFL: 1610 / 23 = 70 L/w
    100W Incandescent = 1700 / 100 = 17 L/w

The point of that is, for a 65W bulb to have 9000 Lumens, it would have 138 L/w, which is far out of range for any flouro, and even pretty damn good for a HPS. Similarly, for a 42W CFL to have 9000 lumens it would have 214 L/w.

  8. Dier Wolf- Check your pm's please

  9. bargain hunt... heres how i get my fluorescent set up

i go look for chandelier's or double bulbed lights that fit regular 60w light bulbs at local thrift shops (value village, salvation army, and other such locals). take them apart from their fancy workings and wire them back together.

search ebay for good deals on bulk (20+) fluoro bulbs, i make panels of lights hooked up all over my grow box so that i get all over lighting as well as up top.

i came up with a 500w+ setup that costs under $50 this way.
