10' by 7' lowryder #1 grow

Discussion in 'Grow Room Design/Setup' started by Rf7he4, Dec 26, 2010.

  1. I have a 10' by 7' space, the plants are autoflowering and only grow 12-15 inches tall, so height is not a problem.

I have 2 400 watt metal halide lamps leaving them on for 20 hours a day 4 hours off.

I'm using a nutrient film technique, with the set up as pictured.

This would grow 84 plants or 42 or so dry ounces. Anything I'm missing for the basics?

Yeah "2" 400 watts for 84 plants.. thats a problem. comes out to about 18 watts a plant.. most people shoot for 50 per plant at the least. And go with HPS not MH

  3. most people are growing lowryder #1... i personally think you could get away with it. you would definately have to rotate the plants positions to ensure even growth but ive already wanted to do something similar. ive done some work with lr2 and i personally would recommend that over lr 1. maybe only throw 30 under each lamp though. Your math is working out to about a half ounce a plant but i think youd be very hard pressed to pull that off. either way post your findings im quite interested.

Math is a bit off, that's roughly 9.5 watts per plant, and that's just ridiculously low... I just don't see it happening. Even at 60 that's only a little more than 13w per plant. I wouldn't do any more than 20 (40w per plant, still low... but doable), and then you should be able to pull a 1/2oz off each.

Also, with MH being best for veg, you would be SO much better with HPS since they can do well for both veg and flower, and autos veg time is very short, like 2-3 weeks short... so you would just get a lot more out of an hps.

  5. meant to say most people arent growing lowryder #1.

i think youd be much better off with a different autoflowering variety

  6. And 50 watts a plant is the MINIMUM, more light is always a plus.
