Hi everyone, my mother plant is now 11 days into growth and it's looking great (about 10 leaves) 4.5-5". It's located on a semi enclosed shelf within the mother/clone room that measures 3'x4'x4.5' (LxWxH) Currently it's under one 6400k 200W cfl (Sunblaster) thats hanging vertically above the plant. Will this be sufficient? Should it be under a hood horizontally? Or will I need another light in the near future? Thanks a lot -
Is she stretching at all? It sounds like she is doing well. More light would mean more bud. So choice is yours.
Yeah she has a pretty good stretch on her right now. She is a mother though so bud isn't really the point (technically haha) I just want to keep her big and healthy to ensure a consistently good yield of clones. on a side note: what nutrients should I be using at this point, if any? Thanks a lot everyone!
200W CFL is fine but you may want to invest in another 50+ Watts, this will stop her stretching and she will have more/denser buds.
200w is good for veg, I've kept a couple of mothers under a single 200w CFL. Keep the light as close as temps will allow to reduce stretching. I like mine to have mine horizontal with a hood and keep it as low as possible without causing stress. In soil I don't usually feed them for around a month - 6 weeks depending on what soil Im using.
I appreciate the prompt responses guys! Would there be any point in hanging another 200w cfl, or would a nice fixture for the current one be a better option? It's one or the other until pay day rolls around unfortunately ..
Have you considered getting smaller cfls around the plant to ensure the whole plant gets lighting. I've heard a lot of people do well with that.
I guess I really just want to know how to raise the best, healthiest mother possible considering my circumstances. More will come later, but for the next couple of weeks cashola's a bit tight. What is considered an ideal setup for a mother that needs to produce 30 clones every six weeks or so? Just so I have a reference when the cash starts coming around and I can afford to invest a bit more
I really don't want to drop $300 on the kit but I'm thinking I may as well have at this point Im already over 130 for a single 200w cfl without a reflector. Gahhh! I don't know what I need or who to listen too. I just want a solid setup for a solid price that gets the job done correctly. I already have the one 200w cfl so I'd rather not waste it..
for what you are doing... just get a good reflector for the light you have.... give it a try... if it doesn't produce the clones you want then worry about adding more light... frankly.. reading these replys makes me think they didn't even read your post....
So I just purchased a reflector for the 200w cfl, as well as to two 2' 6400k t5's that I will probably hang along side the mother in conjunction with the cfl. Unfortunately all of my money is tied up in the flowering room right now, so this will have to do until the cash comes along. Some one please tell me this is ample enough lighting for a mother for a few weeks, my wallets exausted!
