Your pH is way too high. In soil the pH should be between 6.5 and 6.8. Maybe 7.0 but that is pushing it.
Airy buds can be caused by a few things; I think too little nutes and not enough light are the most common.
You defininately need holes in the bottom of the cup for drainage, otherwise you're asking for root rot.

pH going down after adding nutes is normal, they are usually acidic. I've never heard of temperature affecting pH though.
