A chart made to aid in the visual comparison of the various efficiencies of light bulbs. Source: bulbs.com
This is an updated version of the lumen efficiency chart to include the PL-L bulb.
Here is my 3x55w setup with reflectors. [IMG] This pic kind of sucks. I'll get a better one later.
I added it to a newer version of the diagram, but haven't re-uploaded yet. :-\ Edit: Here it is! [img]
Those higher wattage CFLs are actually less efficient in light production/watt used than the lower watt ones. See my handy efficiency chart. [IMG]
If you get an AC unit, make sure you clean it really good when you bring it back though. It'll be kind of smelly. ;)
The danger of mold isn't so much the biological matter itself (spores and live tissue) but the toxins that the fungus releases. I'm positive that...

Indeed it is. Besides, we need to be talking about lux, not lumens. It is all about how much lux is hitting the leaves. See...

I'm excited about these PL-L lamps, but I can't seem to find any bulbs in the right temperature for Veg with a reasonable price. I saw some...
That looks amazing. Where do I find a fixture for them? Edit: After digging through -mu's guide to the PL-L 55 Watt systems, I've realized that...
If we are going to get technical, they really need Lux. ;) That is where proper reflecting material comes in. The only reason I was using Watt...

Thanks for the input, NYC Diesel. If I understand lumen (as a measurement of light output) correctly, this would me more effective (in raw...
I did a little bit more reading and it seems that the output for the light is 8000 lumens for the entire length. ...That means that if my plants...
Below is a simple chart I have constructed to help me determine the qualitative differences between the amount of energy required by a light...
Hey folks, I'm looking at lighting a cabinet (28"x19"x50") with two plants. I've decided to go fluorescent due to heat and sound constraints,...
