  1. Homeland Security moves forward with 'pre-crime' detection | Privacy Inc. - CNET News

I sure do feel safer with all these computers telling me what I and others are thinking, thank you DHS

  2. If this was put at the entrance of Congress, not to many people would be allowed in.

  3. more tools for Big Brother. Great.

  4. they see me rollin, they hatin, patrollin they tryna catch me ridin dirty, tryna catch me ridin dirty, tryna catch me ridin dirty.
    :smoke:

  5. can these devices detect and deter small aerodynamic copper clad pieces of lead that may have opinions contrary to the HSA's ideal sheeple mentality of the masses?

I am sure there are a lot of little pieces of lead waiting to know...

    :p

  6. I'm sorry, but did that report say that 'ethnicity' would play a role in whether a person was more likely to commit a crime or not?

I know, I know, people always tell me after I say that; "Black people have a higher rate in crime".

Bullshit, the white people committing crime are upstairs controlling police officers to go after black men so they can push them down and squeeze pennies out of them.

    P.S. I'm white.

  7. Is this the start of the creation of real life Thought Police?

  8. White guilt.

  9. The whole concept is completely ridiculous. It should be thrown out the window as unconstitutional before the project even gets off the ground.

 Yeah, yeah, it's all a conspiracy by The Man.

Tell you what, go to a neighborhood in your city that is all-black. Trust me, there is one. Just sit there for a day and write down a list of the crimes you see committed.

Then, repeat the experiment with a neighborhood in your city that is all-white. Just sit there for a day and write down a list of the crimes you see committed.

No police pressure, no conspiracy, just see what happens.

  10. That is a bit simplistic "experiment" that do not take into accord socio-economic factors. Areas dominated by blacks and hispanics tend to have a much lower mean income and a much higher unemployment rate than areas dominated by whites and east-asians.

One can speculate on the reasons for this disparity, but seeing as many hispanics and blacks do very well in the US, I wouldn't quite jump the racism gun.

As for the topic of the thread, what I'd call profiling-machines, I see little wrong in their implementation. Insofar as they actually will work and not produce a lot of false results, be they positives or negatives.

Focused security measures are by far more efficient than the silly theatrics of current wide-net but not terribly fine masked security measures.

  11. Oh man, I could blow huge holes in Feanor's racial bigotry alongside Mr. Zylark.

This biological approach to criminology was thrown out decades ago as the anti-scientific racialized tripe it is. This stuff is criminology 101, basic chicago school ecological approaches that you learn DIRECTLY after you learn Durkheim.

This is a trend that has historically also been attributed to Polish, Armenians, Irish, Italians, Russians, etc. etc. interestingly is the very same neighborhoods which predominantly are now populated by African Americans and Hispanics. The research clearly shows that the socio-economic factors, social disorganization, political disenfranchisement, socialized racialist expectations, and population turnover all contribute with a debatable direction but necessary line of causality with high crime neighborhoods.

Pick up a book and read it. You might learn something.

  12. Bold- Agreed.

However. the second half of your post is absurd. If you were to observe the hood (Africans) or a trailer park (Europeans) you will find an almost equal amount of crimes being committed. The most frequent crimes committed in these areas are drug offenses which I think we all can agree shouldn't be crimes in the first place. The second most seen crime would be theft. Both of these crimes are caused because they are poor and downtrodden and are seeking some kind of escape from this lifestyle, even it be for a moment. Now if you went to two affluent neighborhoods where one had people of african descent and one had people of european descent; I am sure you would find little to no crimes being committed. It's not about race.

  13. Birds of a feather flock together, blacks and whites will always have similar socio-economic conditions as their own. So it is about race in the sense that they are discriminated against as a group and conform as a group. This isn't to say that it is genetic or anything.

As for pre-crime computers, this sucks for me because I always feel like I look nervous going through security. As it is I get patted pretty frequently.

  14. I suppose I did a terrible job of proving my point.

My point was NOT that blacks are criminals and whites are not.

Yes, there are other factors. A lot of them. My point was that there is no massive racist police conspiracy. That is NOT one of the factors. I simply removed the police from the equation to demonstrate that.

  15. yes there is, it's called racial profiling and corruption.

  16. I didn't really mean to turn the thread into a 'whether blacks are more likely to commit crimes than whites'.

Just to summarise my opinion, yes they are, but it's hardly their fault.

  17. I think we should focus on the future telling computer. WTF? Did you guys see that shit?!
