Official House/Trance Appreciation thread!

Discussion in 'Music genres, Bands and Artists' started by Cali Grass, Jan 3, 2011.

  1. Not really, but for real you guys, I am so over dubstep. It's still good for giggin' and getting wasted, but house and trance (as well as hardstyle, electro, etc) are a much better dance/trip experience.

    So let me start us off with some slaps :smoke:

    A dope, chilled out track:

    [ame=http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zK1mLIeXwsQ]YouTube - deadmau5 & Kaskade - I Remember (HQ)[/ame]

    Best idea ever:

    [ame=http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ErOuCLHLwBs&feature=related]YouTube - Deadmau5 & Wolfgang Gartner - Animal Rights. FULL VERSION!!!! [HQ][/ame]

    And finally, a crazy fucking song by the gnarliest guy ever, Skrillex :eek:

    [ame=http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fkfVPIGUgFQ]YouTube - Skrillex - Kill Everybody (Original Mix)[/ame]

  2. At least the only poster has some original stuff :eek:

  3. I love trance but I can't stand house.

  4. Well I'd dare say original.. I just mixed them all. And I must say, Deadmau5 is where it's at! His stuff is absolutely sick.

    ^^^ Way to hijack the "house" thread :rolleyes:

    OP, that "I Remember" song changed my life when I was @ the peak of my MDMA exp :D
    I'd recommend anything by Adam K & Soha, ORGASMIC

  7. I was referring to the OP's post about not liking dubstep.

  8. I've been to a hell of a lot of dubstep raves, out in the woods or at some crazy spot, but I can't listen to it all the time. Plus, the music section is dominated by hip-hop and dubstep. We needed a bit of appreciation for the other guys :D

  9. I was just posting some of the best dubstep you can find atm so maybe if he heard the wrong stuff he might like it, too.

  10. It's just all the same. Skrillex is the most progressive, original dubstep artist I know of and he barely counts. His genre is Death Electro :hello:

  12. House and Trance don't really go together IMO. You can see right away the audience can be very different. However, I'll give one up for the team since I'm not going to miss a chance to participate in some House Evangelism.

    Check it:

    [ame=http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=J375zTgz3Ko]YouTube - Kenne Kuramochi - Take Me Back (Original Dub Mix)[/ame]

  13. Can you explain why they don't go together and how the audiences are different? I like both genres of music, but I've never been to a show or anything so I'm not sure how the audiences are.

    I like Prog House and Trance a lot.

    [ame=http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YKVDd8OBPPM]YouTube - Mat Zo - Aurus (Original Mix)[/ame]

  14. All good if you like both just talking about them being different subjects of conversation. I mean I could start the Rock, Bluegrass and Folks appreciation thread and I'm sure there would be folks that like all three but normally one of the two or three becomes the dominant topic of conversation.

    Personally I don't dislike Trance at all I just don't really listen to it. For some reason, most of my local friends who adore Trance don't like House at all. Please forgive me but your final comment makes me think of a famous quote among House Heads:

    "Progressive ain't progress, and progressive ain't house. Do you know house?"

  15. I wonder why that is? Originally I only would listen to trance music. I really enjoyed melodic/uplifting trance with nice breakdowns (Andy Blueman for example) for quite sometime, but I only listened to a small amount of house. Later, house grew on me more. I like progressive house because of the (generic?) synths that are often used, but I'd prefer listening to a more jazzy type of house music.

    Can you suggest any house music with Jazz influence and maybe more interesting beats? I'm pretty bored of trance music and a lot of prog house I've listened to is quite boring as well. You seem to be quite knowledgeable about this type of music.

  16. Play in *HD*!!!!!!!!!!!

  17. Well.. lets try my favorite station and give me feedback and we can adjust from there.

    :: truehouse - Radio :: the best House-Music online web radio :: truehouse - Radio ::

    Try the main house channel and see what you think. It's a bunch of mixed sets from the hosts and a few guests. You can also download full sets here and here:

    :: c&m productions :: Live Mix :: probably the best mixshows on the web ::
    :: c&m productions :: The Mix Archive :: probably the best mixshows on the web ::

    Anyway let me know how you feel about it too fast, too slow, to vocal, not vocal enough etc. Then we can adjust to something which lines up with your taste.

    Peace!

  18. Right now I'm listening to a Truehouse mix and it's really nice. I like how nice and subtle the synths are and the chords sound very nice as well. I don't really mind the vocals, but they sound a little cheesy. This one song I'm listening to is great, but I just find it a bit cheesy with this vocal repeating 'Do you remember your first time?". It's still very good nonetheless. I like it better than, say deadmau5, for example, because it's so much more smooth. They both have a lot of energy, but this music is much more softer on the ears; It's hard to explain. Does that make sense?

    Earlier, when I was talking about Jazz House, I think the term I was looking for is Nu Jazz or Deep House. Am I correct?

    Yea most of what you hear on truehouse is deep house or soulful house. If you look at that archive page (above) you can see the names of a lot of their sets give you a feel for what it's gonna be like. Example, if you look at the current live mix page:

    :: c&m productions :: Live Mix :: probably the best mixshows on the web ::

    You'll see that "back into the groove" set is a remix of old school stuff while "summer soulful" is soulful vocal house and the "when it was deep..." set is more of a deep house sound.

    Here is a fun tool to see different kinds of electronic music, with samples. It's not the be all end, end all but it will give you a general idea of the sound for different genres.

    Digitally Imported has a wide choice of electronic music stations so it's easy to bump around on the front page and find something you like.
