Anyone listen to Shape of Despair? I really love their music, and it's one of the few bands that I hadn't seen mentioned here. Swallow the Sun is also a very good group. And I definitely don't think of Agalloch as Doom either, don't get me wrong here they are a great band but just don't fit into the mold of typical doom. (although there seems to be a million sub genres) Great thread btw, can never find anyone who listens to doom. Glad to see I'm not alone.

I'm a big doom fan, whether it be old school doom, stoner doom, funeral doom, etc. I'm more of a black metal fan however. Some of my favorites are Witchfinder General, Sleep, Blood Ceremony, Boris, Burning Witch, Earth, Electric Horsemen, Electric Wizard, Bongzilla, Evoken, Reverend Bizarre, Sunn O))) (mostly drone though), Thorr's hammer, The Angelic Process, Forgotten Tomb, Gallhammer, Isolation, Abyssmal Sorrow, Nortt, old black sabbath, etc..

I went through a depressed stage in life for about a 2 years, I listened to ALOT of Anathema. I was determined to start a doom band because of them. I liked My Dying Bride. Crematory, Amorphis. I liked alot of black metal too, and still do. I dont listen to Anathema as much, cause it makes me kinda sad. Can anyone recommend some good Anathema songs? I like Lost Control, Sleepless, Electricity, Flying, Judgement.
