Ha! I just found the macro setting on my camera! Woot!
So I thought it only fitting to use for my first "bonsai" white widow!
That's it on the right, only 14 inches tall and in full flower.
I might get one solid foot long bud since it has no side shoots...
Has anyone else done this? Why does it seem more concentrated with THC glands than the first generation mother plant?

Edit: The bonsai is the little sucker back right, the plant in the foreground is a young, NOT bonsai'd sativa, so very lanky.
    BONSAI back right!

I need to find something to steady my hand for these, it's hard not to shake....

    Bump?

    [ame="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NVFjEPY4mls"]YouTube - 36-Hour Cialis[/ame]

Did I post this in the wrong forum???

  3. Can't say much more the "bonsai" effect and related trichomes, but it could just be a stronger/healthier plant than the mother. Did you LST her or trim anything? I've noticed that LST will strengthen a branch quite a bit, making the bud twice as big as it would be left untouched. Stress = Strength, in some cases.

Your other plants look pretty stretched, namely the center gal. She looks too close to those lights, too...is she getting burned at all? What kind of lights are those? I would guess they are Flourescent due to the stretching and the proximity of that center plant. You might want to look into another light depending on what you've got goin, but what the hell do I know? I do know that your middle plant will probably get taller, so that's something to watch out for.

They're lookin' pretty damn good anyways. That foot-long cola is gettin' pretty tasty. You about 5 weeks into flower?

Edit: LOL @ Cialis video. That clip in the movie theater would be the worst!

  4. Nothing like a cialis video to pick up a bonsai thread...
    hehe.
The middle plant is an Aussie Blue, I've raised two from seed and 4 clones and they ALL grow really tall and not bushy at all, but it is a 90% sativa.
The Widow grows nice and bushy and as short or tall as you like depending on lights.
I think it is just the angle of the picture but none of them are touching the light and, in fact, I keep the Aussie in between two bulbs, and let it grow up the middle with strong light on the sides of the cola to keep it from growing up to the light, the side light seems to help me keep them under 5 feet. The plant on the left of that photo has already been cut.
I really don't keep track of the weeks anymore, I can tell when it is ready to start checking with the microscope. I'd guess your pretty close at five weeks. The plants will let you know when they are ready and I have no idea how anyone does this and raises new strains without a cheap radio shack pocket microscope, those things work great.
And as for lights, they are 125 W CFL grow lights from a greenhouse supply.
At first I used all 2700K for flowering and 6400k for veg, but I've flowered and vegged under both and have not seen any difference with the "flowering" spectrum v the "vegging" spectrum so now I have them mixed.
I'm really pleased with the Aussie Blue it is the best headiest high ever, but I just brought in a relatively bushy 4' female and only got an ounce of bud once it was trimmed and cured.
I only grow for me, so I don't really care about the yield, the quality has to be the bomb or I won't bother.
The AB, after almost 25 years of smoking is by far, the best high I've ever had, very creative, cerebrial, social high. Perfect, in my book, I think I'd cry if I lost the mother. Seriously.
    And thanks for the response!

  5. Liz, havent seen you in a while...thought you got banned lmao

either way, your widow looks like a couple of plants I did a while back. I think there is some pictures of them in my gallery, but I honestly dont remember. I grew those plants 12/12 from seed, so they started flowering as soon as they were mature enough, thats why there wasnt any branching.

when youre comparing its trichome coverage to the mother plant, do you mean the widow is a clone? it so, I have no idea why it has a lot more trichs. if its a different plant, then its probably just variation in the genetics

it could be the clone is more mature than the plant you flowered previously, since the clone is older, but I doubt its that visibly noticable, that sort of thing should contribute more to the cannabinoid profile than the genetic makeup :)

Haha! Hiya pal! Yeah, some punk kid banned me for two months. I hate it when twenty somethings let e -authoritai go to their heads.

Oh, and the bonsai is a clone of the mother but just seems to have a higher concentration of THC as I look through the scope.
Then again, I just smoked a fatty of the mother plant and I am really stoned, so she's really potent.
I love when I put a jar of weed away for a few weeks, and kind of forget about it, as I sample the other genetics and then I pull the jar out to smoke it before it gets too old and lol, it gets me stoned in a totally different way and I remember why I cloned it. lol. I was gonna make some wicked brownies and lollypops out dis bitch but it smokes so good, maybe not...

  7. lmao, not all of us twenty somethings are punk kids :D Nice to see you back around though

well, if its a clone, then it could be a maturity thing. if you clone a plant at 4 weeks from seed, the clone is already 4 weeks old. if 4 weeks later you take a clone of the clone, this clone is 8 weeks old from the start....im pretty high, so I hope that makes sense

how are your temperatures now? iirc, you got a little warm for a bit? If thats the case, and your temps are better now, then this is also almost certainly a factor.

and maybe youre just doing a better job. We growers do tend to get better with experience, ya know?

  8. Haha, you're a good egg amoril!
And I think it's funny that after all these years I finally started growing rather than paying ridiculous money for mexi-brick.
I'm sure the subgrade avaialability and me growing out of knowing the "in crowd" led to me taking really long hiatuses and only smoking occassionaly.
I am a little concerned because I knip buds at various stages off of the plants and smoke almost every night...
Ah well, "Lemon, women your age have a better chance at getting mauled at the zoo than getting married", you might as well get stoned...

  9. Hey guys, looks like I've messed up the white balance on my camera.
I tried resetting it but it's still way off.
I thought I needed to white balance in the room I am taking the pics, but it seems the high light in the room caused the white balance to get pulled down...
I tried resetting it under normal lighting but it didn't work.
    Anyone have any suggestions?
I'll post some pics, see how dark the walls look? They should be bright white, like in the first set of photos.

  10. What sorta camera is it?

  11. I've got a couple short plants going right now. one untopped that is about 14 or 15 inches, and a topped one that is around a foot. I have a pic in my thread, it's attached to where my sig would be, below my messages in the blue lettering. They are both doing fuckin awesome. I think the trich's seem to be more abundant due to such compact growth. Everything on the plants is growing at a mini level. The leaves are tiny, but are COATED with trich's, and they almost seem to grow on top of one-another. Good luck with your girls, and like Amoril said there are some of us in our twenties that aren't punks.

  12. apok: Canon PowerShot S50

    ironplug: Nice pics! Nice plants!
I need to organize my growning space better.
I think your right about the tiny clones, loaded with trichs and tiny leaves are all frosty.
Also, it was mentioned that the clones are more mature than the mother as they started out at her "age" and are now older???
I kind of get that and kind of don't...

  13. Looking tasty.

So basically, that cutting you took is going to be genetically identical to the plant it came from. As SOON as it has started forming roots you can flower them. That's the best way to do s SOG grow, and a MUCH better idea than trying the whole 12/12 from seed thing. The clones are already mature enough to start flowering, since the plant they came from had established itself growth wise to be able to take cuttings. It's also a great way to ensure females, over and over and over....

  15. what the fuck did you do to that plant. it looks terrible

  16. What are you talking aboot?
    The bonsai is back right.
The foreground is a young sativa cloned at the same time but not restricted. Sativas are very lanky.
What is the problem? What are you seeing that makes you unsettled?

  17. I think for people that haven't grown, anything other than a ton of plants with giant foot long colas isn't that impressive. They don't see the true beauty of those little plants. That plant look EXACTLY like it should, just on a miniature scale.

  18. Thanks babe. True story.

  19. Oh, by the way ms. lemon, you have an amazing pair of, eyes.
