www.change.gov

So Obama has a site www.change.gov where he's welcoming feedback and also potential employees for his administration. He asks for your vision of America. I gave them mine:

Our great nation is oblivious to the fact that we incarcerate more people per capita than any other country in the world and the reason is our draconian drug policy. My vision for this country begins with an intelligent reevaluation of the drug policy and the colossal failure that is the War on Drugs. Alcohol and tobacco enjoy extensive advertising and cause millions of deaths per year while a substance as benign as cannabis is falsely claimed to have no recognized medical value (Schedule I) under federal law, even though 13 states have now taken matters into their own hands and approved medical marijuana via propositions that have received majority votes.

I recommend we look towards history and the Shafer Commission's findings under President Nixon. Prohibition of this popular substance has proven to cause more harm than the substance itself as evidenced by alcohol in our past and record-breaking numbers for simple possession arrests today. People are missing out on college education and valuable job opportunities while paying outrageous consequences if caught up in the criminal justice system.

For the government to continue the charade of providing dishonest propaganda concerning drugs we are sending the wrong message to the youth - that you can not trust what the government says. This is opposite of the argument that relaxing such laws sends the same message, which is the final line of defense for politicians who dare not consider any other option than escalation of prohibition. The budget allocated for enforcement, interdiction, and prosecution is out of control and has contributed to a prison-industrial complex that houses more non-violent drug offenders than ever.

Aside from the vast resources, both fiscal and humanitary, that we could save by decriminalizing cannabis and hemp alone, we would also generate huge amounts of revenue by regulating the industry, as distinguished economists and Noble Prize winners have recommended for years.

It is time for people to stop being persecuted and criminalized for activities which have proven to be less harmful than regular use of aspirin. I trust that at the very least, federal raids on medical marijuana dispensaries will come to an end, and we will respect states' rights.

It's a shame, really. Had McCain won you could suggest things for Sarah Pallin to buy with Tax Payers money at Maverick.gov

I submitted my personal info for job consideration. I'd love to work in a government capactiy, and getting into politics is something that is becoming increasingly interesting to me.

there is no opposition... the election is over.

When did i snicker at your choice for president? I voiced my disagreement, but never snickered or made fun of any Obama supporter.

Actually i think i made fun of the crazy Obama bashers (max) more than anything.

you specifically referred to Palin/McCain as the opposition not the republican party in general.
Which is why i said there is no opposition, i was referring to the general election.. not general politics.
Do you really think that i beleive that no one opposes the "Democrat" party?

anyway.. keep pointing out how dumb Sarah Palin is every time someone criticizes Obama. At some point we will forget about her, and you'll actually have to answer for him without being able to deflect.

me: i disagree with Obama's stance on gun control

you: well sarah palin is dumb

Re: www.change.gov

The idea of opposition was fabricated for the election, duderino. You know, a 'false dichotomy'.

Incase you haven't noticed, Republicrats agree on all fundamental issues. Foreign policy, monetary policy, civil liberties, federal power, Constitutional rape, corporate and social welfare...

And just so you know, there aren't enough McCain/Palin supporters on here to warrant your continued attacks against them. Just because someone disagrees with Obama doesn't mean they agree with Republicans, and I'm pretty sure we're all tired of hearing about Palin.
