I think everyone who is attacking the reference to Hitler is missing his point.(BTW, I am not bashing anyone here just attempting to clarify the point, so if you could save any hate type comments I think we would all be better served, but it's your right to do so, just think about it first...)

Whenever an official comes to power through a tremendous media blitz and "change" thinking, people have a tendency to blindly follow before it is too late, without examining all of the options and and again not thinking through whether the new power's ideas will really work, or are they just different from the prior leadership so they must be right and have to work. In Obama's case, I believe the OP is referring to the actual policy Obama hopes to implement, in this case a more socialized America. This would be drastically different than what the original creators of our government imagined(on the whole, though, yes, some had more socialist leanings than others based on their writings). The argument against a move toward a more socialist society is that it will stifle true economic growth in favor of a short term economic injection supplied by the government. Eventually, in a socialist society (and really any type of society) there must be the export of goods or services in excess of all other imports, unless that society can become truly self sufficient in terms of food, energy, etc.

I don't believe that the US is in the position now to fully adopt Obama's plans. Sure, supposedly those making under a certain threshhold might receive the promised short term benefit from the change in tax structure and increased government spending, but what happens when the money from increased taxes on the upper class and corporations runs out because they cannot continue to increase revenue under the proposed plan to keep tax revenue increasing as well, without further plunging themselves and the country into greater debt, thus weakening the value of our currency with which we must trade with other nations? Where will the continued economic growth come from if profit incentive has been greatly diminished? These are the fundamental questions that I don't believe Obama's plans have answered, but the people have already bought into.

I hope that congress will work solidly and together on these issues and develop a long term strategy instead of just doing what they need to do to get re-elected, which is the only bain of democracy. All politicians are in continual campaign mode.

I am going to have to disagree with that.

As for Godwin's Law, it is a recent creation I believe within the blogger community that I think if completely followed would eventually do nothing but keep a younger generation from understanding the similarities and effects of propaganda based campaigns. So, any post that contains reference to Nazi's or Hitler, I don't feel should automatically be discounted. I like to keep everything open.

Since, Hitler is the most recent and visible example of what can go wrong with propaganda and media control which can serve to hide actual reprecussions of discussion of the policies, we should be wary of "Change, for Change sake" thinking. Obama himself, can never be compared to Hitler, but their campaigns of change and media blitzing could be considered similar.

Well, I haven't been living under a rock as you have insinuated.

I won't argue that Bush engaged in selective information. But what makes you think that Bush has had media control as I mentioned as one of the premises in addition to propaganda? Would you consider the media to be conservative or liberally biased?

I consider the Media to generaly sway in the way of the wind.
for example, if the president is using a domestic attack for an unrelated war to be waged under false pretenses, then you bet your sweet ass it's not going to be hard for him to use the media to bend to his whims. So yeah, I think Bush had a pretty firm hold on the Media.

Where is this 700 billion dollars in already proposed new spending going to come from? The socialist tax system (which is completely unfair if you have no idea what it consists of) that Obama has come up with. Also Middle to Upper class Americans might as well move to Cuba. I could go on but if you don’t get it by now then there’s no hope. Ironic right? I realize he is already [going to be] the president and I honestly hope everything works out. Don’t call me racist either because I would vote for a Black President every election if he/she was the best candidate, or even closely touched on what I thought was right. However, I find what he plans to do is scary. He’s the biggest celebrity and everyone jumped on the bandwagon. His 30 minute infomercial that aired on several networks cost a fortune to make and was done by Hollywood producers.

PS. He painted over the American flag on the tail fin of his campaign jet with his "O" Obama symbol which has the American flag slightly mashed into it as if we will become the United States of Obama.
