well blades, i've been looking for a "new" car for awhile, and i might have found it. i don't know much about it but i'm going to look it over on friday. its a 1984 bmw 318i coupe. i believe its delphin metallic (i'll include a link to a pic of the same color e30 in this post), and its a five speed manual transmission.

if the body is worth what the guy is asking i've found a local s50 for a fair price. if thats gone in the next couple of weeks i'll just build a m5x and boost it. i sold my last car to a friend a few months ago and finally decided to go for another e30.

granted, if this falls through there aren't many other decent e30's in the area. my other options are an auto '90 325iX coupe or an '86 325es. other possibles are random vw's including an '83 rabbit, a '98 gti, or a '91 jetta. i just don't really want to get into another FWD car yet.

saw the car in person - i was amazed. the body is in better shape than my '90 sedan was, rust-wise. paint still had a great deal of shine and all the glass is good. plus the interior looked like it was in excellent shape, although it could definitely use a thorough cleaning.

the engine bay was quite clean considering its an '84 (cleaner than my last e30), and the engine itself seemed strong with no unusual noises. i paid the guy half of what he was asking and got a bill of sale for the full amount - he's delivering it to my house on a trailer tomorrow.

i can't wait to get some pictures so this doesn't look like some bullshit hopes and dreams thread.
i'm just really high and rambling and shit.

I would pick it up, E30s are a force to be reckoned with even with just a few mods. Also I would go with this over most any other FWD for similar price, and I would avoid the x-drive to get a purist RWD experience.

Nice find, you should clean her up real good and give us an update.

i almost cannot believe the mileage the odometer shows, just under 360k miles, but it's on its second m10 with ~170k on it.

grand total was $805, delivered to my house from 30 miles away by the seller.

someone took excellent care of this car, and i hope i do them right by it.

so far the only rust i've found is surface rust where the paint chipped off. and there's only a few chips.

whats up man? how've you been?

i think if you saw this car in person, you would be amazed. i know very little about the previous owners but if this has been in maine it's whole life, it hasn't seen more than a couple winters.

its so clean i would eat off the inner fenders!

this is probably the most interesting (stock) e30 i've owned - no warning light panel above the rear-view mirror, no central locking, and manual windows. i've only seen a handful of e30's without electric windows, and never seen one in person before this car.

I've been good, man. Doing photography and videography for a creative studio, and still trying to get back out west permanently.

It sounds like whoever had the car appreciated a classic BMW in general and you got quite a deal. Body panels looking solid. I'm truly jealous.

Oh, and manual windows are the fucking shit.

my mother took all these pictures for me.

i just figured i'd get some more pics up of this sweet lil' e30.

i'm gonna try to get some better pics soon, outside of the shop and away from the driveway.

so i attempted to bleed the brakes and the bleeder nozzle on the rear driver's side drum snapped off.

guess i'm gonna be replacin' that (by that i mean the whole rear brake system), and other things (hopefully the m10 by next fall).

am considering ditching the rear drums in preparation for more power. :confused_2:

oh yeah, i forgot to mention, when i had the back wheels off replacing brake components (wheel cylinders and brake shoes), i found that the car has a borla exhaust. at least, thats what the muffler is.

shitty thing is, its jerry-rigged on there with what looks like rubber/plastic/tape and zip-ties.

oh well, just a lil' bit of welding and she should be sounding better.

that car is so classy, i mean it could be rusted, covered in shit id probably still like it. I cant help but look at it lowered on BBS rims with some decent camber.

yeah i can't go too low, i mean, i live on a dirt road in maine, but she's gonna get a bit and some 15" or 16" mesh style wheels. probably reps 'cause i'm a broke motherfucker and i don't need to finance my wheels when i didn't finance the car.

its either bbs rs type reps

its just like everyone has done rs's or similar mesh wheels, and in every car "scene".

i think that while they're pretty sexy, they're a little played out.

the more i think about it, the less i know (or think i know) what i want to do.

edit - if this was 2010-2011, i would definitely rock rs's.

edit #2 - this is what alpinas look like on a delphin e30 (i fell in love with this car on a forum)
