Alright guys, WELLLLLL!!!! It's about time for me to start my first grow and I have done all the figures to prepare me before hand. It looks like my light bill will only increase about $40 to $50 a month which I don't think is much at all. I've budgeted all my funds and created budgets for the next 7 months, through to September, so I can be on time with all rent, light bills, and all that. The initial start up with seeds and all will be about $2000, but that's a good investment.

Grow Tent and Lights
I'll first be getting a 55"x55"x79" grow room and as for lighting I will be using the Big Daddy Reflector with 100W MH and HPS for flowering.

Fans, Airflow, and Ducting
I'll be getting a 6"x8' Ducting. I'm thinking of getting insulated, can I get some feedback on that?
I'll also be getting a 6" Growbright HV Fan with same size flange and Tall Boy Carbon Filter.

As far as the intake, I'll buy another two intake fans that will help with air intake. Not to mention a wall mount oscillating fan.
I've also purchased an environmental controller which helps with the temperature and such. This will come with the thermometer/ hydrometer.

Nutrients, Soil, and Containers
For the nutrients, I will be using nutrients from the Roots Organics Grow Kit, which includes:
Ancient Amber
Amino Aide
Big Swell
Buddha Bloom
Buddha Grow
Trinity
HP
HPK

As for soil, I'll be using the Fox Farm Ocean Forest Soil Mix.

I'll growing my ladies in 3 gallon pots after the first transfer and since this is my first grow, I will try the one transplant to avoid stressing the plant.

Seed Strains
Barney's Farm Vanilla Kush
Barney's Farm Crimea Blue
Reserva Privada Purple Wreck

Once I move into my apartment and put together my grow tent, I will begin posting pictures. The seeds won't be here until some time next week.

What type of water you gonna use did you get a ph meter. Roots organic is great for beginners but make sure you bubble it for 48 hours before you water or longer. You will also want some cal mag. Save money insulated ducting is expesive and not needed.

I'm just about done with the setup and it is HUGE!!! The light system is HUGE!!!! The fan is HUGE!!! And the noise sounds like an ac unit which isn't bad at all. The seeds should be here on a couple of days but in the meanwhile I'm going to start some bagseed.

I've already done a test run for about an hour on the lights twice and the first time the 1000w MH lamp went out after about 20 minutes then came on about 10 minutes later and was fine. With just exhaust, the humidity was close to 65% and the temp peaked at 85 and remained constant so I'm sure with the intake that I won't have to sorry about those numbers too much. I'm at a superbowl party but I'll post pics tomorrow.

I'm having a bit of trouble uploading the pics, but I will start the grow journal anyway.

Today (02/11/2012) is day one of the grow and I have 4 Crimea Blue, 6 Purple Wreck, and 6 Vanilla Kush under 2, 2 ft. CFL Bulbs for 24 a day. I terminated the seeds in paper towels sealed in plastic ziplock bags and ALL of them germinated!!! Today I purchased some peat cups and filled all 16 with Ocean Forest and watered with a ph'ed nutrient solution with some really light nutrients. I placed a quarter of an inch solution in the bottom of the tray I have the cups on since I figure it can't hurt 'em.

Because I germinated too many seeds, I plan on keeping two of the purple wrecks, a crimea blue and a vanilla kush all as mother plants I can take clones from. If everything goes as planned, I will take clones every few weeks.

Yesterday, I was so nervous that the seeds weren't germinating in the soil that I pulled one out and the root had grown to the bottom of the peat pot.

Today, when I woke up, one of the seeds had broken through the top layer of soil. Ahhhhh, I can't wait to get home to see my babies.

Hey guys, here are some pics of the grow set up so far. I'll be posting some pics of my babies tomorrow or Friday.

Last night, when I got in, I noticed the peat pots had dried and so did the soil. When I tested the moisture with my meter, it was low, so I just watered the babies with a few pipettes full of some ph'd water. All of them have sprouted successfully and most are about an inch tall and showing their first true leaves!!!!

I had to get a little session in before I started the work. Helps me focus and work faster, LOL!!!!

Day 8

My babies are growing so fast. As I mentioned in a post before, they've shown their serated leaves and are now growing their second sets of leaves. Last night I noticed a bit of yellowing in the leaves, so I made a very dilute fertilizer solution that was a little less than a 1/4 strength. This was after I checked the pH of some runoff water. The temp is staying at 72 - 76 and humidity goes from 68% to 75%. Overall everything is great and hopefully I can transplant my babies next Saturday.

Everything is pretty much moving along smoothly from what I can see. The only thing is that my dog chewed a cord which in turn caused one side of my apt. to loose power. I was gone from 9:00 am until 9:00 pm but I'm not sure how long the lights were out. I've been alternating the water with the plain ph'ed water then the ph'ed nutrient solution. So when I check the run off each time its around 6.5 - 7.0.

I must admit that things are moving slower than I expected but this has bought me a little more time to buy a portable ac. I've been trying my lights these days and with an exhaust and intake, the temps are around 89.

I've also been checking for roots but nothing major has poked through the soil.

How about some close up pics of the girls? Can't really see them in the pics you posted and it would be helpful.

them peat pots take a while to break up i cut the bottoms of to give the roots a fighting chance of escaping from them, works for me

This is day 14 and most of the plants are pretty decent size and they're working kn growing they're 3rd set of leaves. They are getting bigger and last I checked, Saturday, the roots were beginning to show a little through the soil.

All of the plants have some type of yellow discoloration, and after checking pH, feeding because I was only using pH'ed water, then switching back to water, all plants have some type of yellow discoloration. After some research I figured that they were most likely burned by the soil I used, Fox Farm Ocean Forest.

If it is in fact because of the soil, how can I solve the problem? I'm hoping this will only be during the seedling stage. I will be posting pictures in the morning.

If FFOF is a pre-fertilised soil, I guess you could give them plain water until some deficiencies start showing up or your grower's intuition tells you the medium is flushed. ;)

After some research and the trials mentioned above, I decided to just flush each of the pots with a little over 200 mL of pH'ed water.

I did this because I tested the pH of the run off and it was always between 6.5 and 7.0. I also tried adding a light fertilizer solution a couple of times and the problem seemed to worsen faster. I, for some odd reason, thought the culprit was a nutrient deficiency. Since I'd been reading many reviews that say the Fox Farm Ocean Forest burned seedlings, I figured that I'd flush the medium with water to wash away some of the nutrients already in the soil.

I took some pics of the girls but since I have such horrible reception in my apt., I'm gonna post them tomorrow sometime.

why not invest in some superthrive apparently is the bolox mate and apparently sorts out most problems to the extent of totally reviving very shitty plants that are on there way out. all with just a couple of drops "apparently" being the main word ive not sed it yet just researching for my next grow peace :)

I did today!!! I put a drop in a gallon of water then added a couple of pipettes full of the SUPERthrive enriched water to each plant. I'll be taking pic daily from now on to record the growth of my girls.
