The guy is complaing that 15,000 civilians died in Afghanistan as a result of the United States actions after 9/11. Well what the fuck did they expect, a perfect body count to make it even-Steven for the three thousand that were killed on 9/11 by bin laden and his allies in Afghanistan? No, they expected us to do NOTHING! Idiots. Those inbred Taliban savages really fucked their own people, most of whom don't know what the hell is going on.

I was watching the movie Fail-Safe, from 1964. A nuclear attack is mistakenly launched against Moscow, and the Soviets jammed their transmission which made it impossible to stop. The President, played by Henry Fonda, averts war by lauching a nuclear attack against New York City, with the Empire State Building as "Ground Zero", to show good faith and convince the Soviets that it was not a deliberate attack.

We didn't ask the Taliban to hand over, or kill, thousands as retribution for 9/11. All we asked for was bin laden, just ONE guy, and they refused to cooperate.

They had it coming, it's a shame when innocent people die but they should have thought about that when they allowed Al Qaeda to attack us.

And for the 2599th time, to those who dispute this last fact, that they refused to hand him over: The Taliban offered to turn bin laden over to a Muslim tribunal, or an unnamed 3rd country - NOT the United States, which was unacceptable to American leadership.

Edit, one more thing - the vast majority of Middle Easterners do NOT want the United States to cut off all dealings with them, only the minority of religious fatatics such as the one speaking in the YouTube video.

  2. Bin Laden planned the attacks 9/11 attacks not the Taliban or the people of Afghanistan.
Most of the hijackers were Saudis like Bin Laden. None of them were from Afghanistan.

Bin Laden was a hero in Afghanistan for his role in helping to drive the Russians out. It is only natural that the Taliban would be slow to hand him over to a rabid crazed US. There was NO PROOF that Bin Laden was involved in the 9/11 attacks at this stage.
Bin Laden did not admit his involvement until 2004.

The truth of the matter is that the US public (blind and stupid to the fact that there government had brought on and provoked the attacks through their policies and actions in the Middle East) was rabid and crazed for revenge.
If you keep kicking a dog, one day he will bite you. That is what happened to the US on 9th Sept 2001.

To blame the Afghan people or in fact the Taliban is not logical.

  3. American leadership is retarded though. If they truly wanted retribution they would have accepted the offer of the Taliban and let them turn him over to a third party.

Best case scenario; he is charged with crimes and punished.

Worse case scenario; we know where he is and we don't spend 10 years and a trillion dollars looking for him.

Obviously they were more interested in expanding our influence in the region, thus the Iraq war.

  4. This is what happens when we have warmongering corporations controlling OUR country for profit motives instead of elected leaders that have the best interest of the citizens at heart....

  5. You forgot one thing: Al Qaeda promised more attacks against the people of the United States, far greater than 9/11. It was only logical to go after them before they were able to do it. The exact methodology of the invasion is certainly up for discussion, but something major had to be done to stop this in Afghanistan, and make them understand that Americans do not accept sneak attacks - especially by people that they helped make possible the eviction of the Soviet occupiers.

I still do not understand how fucking stupid the Taliban were, and still are. This type of insanity can only be born of religious fanaticism, ignorance and probably 1200 years of close genetic inbreeding. We did NOTHING bad to Afghanistan to warrant that type of hatred. Bin laden must have paid somebody off really well to use the place as his base of operations, and get off so easy.

  6. Afghanistan or the Taliban did not attack the US.
Bin Laden (a Saudi) and AQ did...

Bin Laden would not have needed to pay anyone in Afghanistan off. He was a hero there for his contribution to driving the Russians out.

Once again. Afghanistan or the Taliban did not attack the US on 9/11.
Bin Laden and other Saudis did.
The fact that Bin Laden was living in Afghanistan is not reason to bomb the shit out of the country.

  7. You can fight terrorism without nation building and occupying.

i know your not a fan of him op, but ron paul hits it home on this speech

  9. The bomging of Kabul and other cities was a dog and pony show. We should have pattern bombed the hills and mountains of Afghanistan, where the al qaeda hideouts were. THAT would have given all of them a different perspective as to who they were fucking with. Better yet, a couple of small nukes dropped there, a denial of responsibly for it by the president, and then send some foreign aid to help them out of "sympathy". In other words, a total mindfuck, which is what they tried to do to us, and damn if they didn't succeed to a large degree.

As far as the U.S. helping Afghanistan eject the Soviets, and the Taliban's support of al qaeda's war against the West, it's just more proof of the old adage that no good deed goes unpunished.

The thing that hinders our abilty to deal with fundamentalist Islam is the perception by the Middle East that we have a Judeo-Christian mindset, which is true to a large degree - but the religions are all corrupt and would rather fight with each other than work things out peacefully. That being said, Islam is by far the worst one, currently, of the three major monotheistic faiths.

  10. 9/11 is our fault. Plain and simple. Keep poking the lion and it's going to attack.

  11. Invading Afghanistan did nothing to deter or reduce al qaeda's capacity to attack us. All it did was allow them the chance to kill Americans on their own soil and increase hatred for our country.

  12. Killing some military people is different from civilians over here, which they have not done since 9/11 - although I'm sure that they'll try again, eventually.

What percentage of the Middle East to you think would favor a total withdrawal of the United States from their countries, a cessation of any and all involvement with their affairs, and a total boycott of their oil by us? That's what the radicals want, do you believe that it is the wish of the people as well? I don't really care, if they want us out then by all means do it, in fact I'd do it in a heartbeat but the world would condemn us if we did.

  13. Are you saying that if we hadn't invaded Afghanistan we would have been attacked again on our soil?

The goal of 9/11 wasn't simply to kill Americans, they had a message and an agenda beyond that. I think by invading the middle east the terrorists got what they wanted.

I think the majority want us to withdrawal and stop propping up puppet governments, but I see no reason to stop trading with them.

  14. It certainly seemed that way, unless they were lying about doing it.

They got their host country invaded, and set off a chain of events that in no way shape of form benefitted anybody except those who make money on war, and others who preach relgious hatred - many of whom are in bed with each other.

That's not an answer to the question that I asked, and not what the terrorists are demanding. They want a TOTAL end to interaction between the West and the Islamic world, or they will continue to attack us. The reason is, they want to eventually set up an Islamic World Government, and run things by the teachings of their religion. This is what they are compelled by their faith to do - and we're the enemy that is getting in their way.

Long wall of text but this is the transcript of Bin Laden's "Letter to the American people".
The letter first appeared on the internet in Arabic and has since been translated and circulated by Islamists in Britain.

Take note of the number 1 problem and of the warning at the end...;)

  16. Or unless 9/11 was a fluke, or they got what they wanted, or increased security etc...

Bin Laden: "We are continuing this policy in bleeding America to the point of bankruptcy, Allah willing. And nothing is too great for Allah. [They will] suffer human, economic and political losses without their achieving anything of note, other than some benefits for their private corporations"

If we pull out and they don't want to trade with us that's their loss. If they do trade with us then it will be mutual, not on behalf of US corporations and puppet regimes. Nobody will oppose true free trade.
