first ever grow 35+year old seeds

Discussion in 'Growing Marijuana Outdoors' started by countrystoner, Jan 29, 2012.

  1. seeds have been germinated have 4 2"x2" plants. they are in dirt . im planning on moving them out side for good once it gets warm enough i will start taking them out side daily so that they can become aclimatized and then im leaving them out........ any thing else i need to do to get them ready for being left outside? i live in the country 10 miles from any neighbors so privacy is not an issue. i live in missouri. i water my plants with fresh well water streight from an underground spring no chemicals or polution. water has been tested and i drink it daily. im using 4cfl 5000k x4 and 2 red spectrum 24" florecents. dunno much about the florecents aside from my buddy used them and they worked. im hoping a couple extra months to veg will give me a high yeild . i broke my back in iraq and am a disabled unemployed vet. so im on a super low budget. any tips are verry much apriciated thanks.

  2. oh and they are daylight cfls

  3. Where did you get 35 year old seeds?

If you can actually get something off them, that'd be a very interesting smoke...a strain that isn't altered and bred with every other strain like the ones we have now...PLEASE post pics...I'm sure many other people would be interested in seeing some bud from that long ago.

  4. watch your temps (20-27 degrees celsius) indoors
always have a fan gently (esp. as seedlings) blowing on them 24/7
air out the room every few days
when going from indoors to outdoors, give them a few hours sun than maximum sun
use organic ferts for better burning and tasting weed (horse shit etc...)
the water sounds very good. read the links under my signature they can help if this is your first run.

  5. they where found at my grandmas house after she passed away. i will try to post some pics soon.

  6. Gonna sub this one...cant wait to see the dinosaurs wake up. Peace

  7. Good luck on your grow.

I do not grow in soil but I know soil growers often make compost tea, raise worms, etc to lower the cost of the ferts.

If you are going to put your plants in a greenhouse outside there are lots of plans on the internet to build a greenhouse for $50 or so. I built one of these types of greenhouse a few years back. It works fine but to build it for that cheap you have to use cheap plastic sheeting that will likely only last a year.

  8. I'm really eager to see how these turn out.

  9. its like a fucking time machine

  10. sunlight is always best. without burning them of course. and sunlight is free. try to get them a few hours a day at least. go easy on the fertilizers until they are at least 18". thanks for serving our country bro!

  11. Thank god I'm american, and thank americans like you. Man, what I was smoking 35 years ago, wasn't that good. Unless grandma was like the original dead head, those seeds are 90% chance it's just mexican brown weed. Don't think I'd plant 1-2 beans and grow um away from the prize girls. Don't want seedy shwag. I'm more curious about grandma! And how she got them. Wish I was closer, I'd drive and give you some badass shit for free. Thanks again SG1

my grandma was a hippie back in the day so if she held on to these seeds 8 in total they musta been some good ones. the plants are healthy looking dark green in clolor. i have alot of caves around my property and thousands of bats so i think im going to use bat guano and chicken shit for fertalizer...... do i just put it on top of the dirt? the dirt is a combination of garden compost and 4 diff bags of merical grow soil. also i was thinking about putting a jacobs latter in the grow box" electricity i have been told greatly improves the size of plants. a friend told me if you plant them under power lines they will grow twice as tall." any one hear anything oabout this or has any one done this before?

  13. Electricity does nothing, make sure that if you use fresh guano or chicken shit to allow it to compost or degrade. pure guano is high in ammonia. So mix everything in a pile with your soil and compost, and guano and let it cook a while before you use it. Couple of months at least. Peace SG1

  14. Yeahhhh...someone was either fucking with you or didn't know what they were talking about.

I still can't believe these seeds actually sprouted after so long. Post some pics and record as much of this as you can...if these are as old as you say they are, it's definitely something worth recording.

  15. the chicken shit is over a year old . so i think its safe to mix with my compost.....it will not be added for a couple months until i put them outside. also should i worry about cross polination due to ferril plants ? how far can the pollen travel?

  16. i was told there is a possibility they could be purple haze."by a family member" im keeping my fingers crossed. im tired of this rock hard brick full of stems and seeds so anything is way better than what is available.

  17. This is amazing...gotta love grandma eh! I'm puttin some beans away for my grandkids as we speak. That should secure my title as the world greatest grandad. Can't wait to see these beasts man.

  18. Spoting a male early is easy and obvious. Just pluck it out before any illegitamit pregnancy. But I would save some pollen for sure just in case you luck out and have a treasure. Good males are hard to find, as well as their pollen. If you don't catchem early they can pollenate 100's of ft away. SG1

  19. RIGHT ON, your growin grandmas gear

nothin more worth it than that imo

  20. I have a hard time believing 35 year old seeds are viable but what the hell anythings possible I guess ?
