Stomach Pain after Weed

Discussion in 'Apprentice Marijuana Consumption' started by FriedFriend, Dec 29, 2011.

  1. HI,
i have been smoking for a year and a half, and daily for a year. Ive had a lot of fun with weed. for half this year I've had increasing problems with my stomach.

for the past week, every time smoke I've gotten horrible burning, pressure and unmovable gas pain in my upper stomach, and constipation. i believe this is where the valve is. At first i thought i had a stomach virus. then it ceased to go away. with my dad we hypothesized it most likely is due to smoking marijuana. it looks like the beginning stages of Cannabinoid Hyperemesis.

so i stopped smoking for 4 days except for a little vape cheat in the middle. the problems came back the day after next morning then went away again. on the 4th day i went to phish, ate a weed brownie on the way. 2 hours later i thought i was going to burn a hole in my stomach/ chest. It was my first concert of my favorite band which i partly ruined to pain. i was the only one not enjoying myself. luckily it went away after i ate some food. i then smoked a bowl and the pain came back. My doctor does not know what the hell this is. he said i have irritable bowel syndrome, which is a symptom of something else obviously.

if I'm allergic to weed or something i will be very very sad. one of my big pleasures will be gone.

what the hell is wrong with me?

  2. this is so bad its fucking up phish for me. god help me.

  3. Cannaboid hyperdowhatnow?

  4. look it up my spelling is correct

  5. blades this is bad and real. we need like a weed dr. house.

  6. Are you sure you're not swallowing the smoke?

  7. *waits for Storm Crow*

  8. YOU EAT TOO MUCH FOOD!!!!!!!!!
    GO TAKE A SHIT BRO!!!!!!!

but in all seriousness, i hope you feel better and that's its nothing serious.

  9. i did get into the habit of swallowing the smoke but have done nothing even close since i started getting pain.

possibly stomach valve full of resin?

that wouldn't explain why a brownie caused me so much pain tho.

  10. Combusting and inhaling the smoke from any substance, can potentially cause those with digestive problems and acid reflux, issues. Try vaping, or at least (if you're not using one already) a bong, and see if there are any changes in how you feel.

If consuming edibles, or vaping does not cause these issues for you, then you should seriously consider seeing a doctor for potential; acid-reflux, gerd, crohn's, IBS and similar ailments whose symptoms can be triggered by smoke inhalation.

Do you ever have stomach problems during the early hours of the morning, or after eating certain foods (starches, spicy foods, fruit, gluten... some items are triggers for some people, others are triggers for other people, even if they have the same ailment! And having only one trigger, and not another, doesn't necessarily mean you have a problem, or that you're in the clear! It may be a good idea to see a doctor if smoking causes you issues.. some peoples throats don't close properly and you can regurgitate a bit of stomach acid, that's immediately redirected into your lungs! Anywhere from right away, to after a few hours, this can cause serious nausea, and a sharp searing pain in, what feels like, the stomach.)

The so-called 'Cannabinoid Hyperemesis' syndrome is a touchy subject.. many of us don't believe in it, and have found that doctors who are anti-cannabis tend to abuse the concept, whether it's real or not, which results in a (sometimes fatal) failure to identify the actual cause of the problems.

For the most part, it's a blanket term used by anti-cannabis physicians to address any digestive ailment, as soon as you mention you also happen to use cannabis. Whether or not it's a real ailment has been much more difficult to prove, or track down. :)

  11. d'uhhhh. What this fine member said. :hello:

  12. Reflux issues maybe???????
    thats super weird.
Sometimes if i have heartburn i get that feeling when i smoke..
Maybe you have acid reflux? Try getting some prev-acid or something its the best one for the price i think...

  13. He said a vape caused it and an edible at phish caused it.....

the mystery continues and a doctor should probably be the detective..... since that shit shouldnt be happening with a vape or edibles hahahahahahah

Id go to a gastroenterologist and see if you have some issues in your gut man, sounds like something else that weed is exacerbating somehow

  14. My bad :D I must admit that I've been skimming threads for the last hour or so :)

That being said, I'd try an edible without so much chocolate, flour and sugar. If THAT doesn't help, then it's more than possible that either; the herb from your area is contaminated, or you have an allergy to one of the range of cannabinoids in cannabis, or one of the hundreds of terpenes and phytochemicals it contains. :(

I'd suggest that you start a journal, and begin writing down dates and times that you've been sick, and what you've had to drink or eat during those times.

i know. thats when it really blew my mind that i might have become hypersensitive to cannabis. its not good enough for me even if i know cannabis causes it. i want to know exactly what in cannabis reacts with what to cause it. of course theres no way for any of u to know for sure, but a real expert would know.

doctors aren't trained in the reactions of cannabis because it is illegal and not approved for medicine.

  17. i informed him about possible Hyperemesis.

  18. and now i have my parents going. STOP THAT MARIJUANA BEFORE IT KILLS YOU. I TOLD YOU IT WOULD HURT YOU. it totally brought them back to the "marijuana is like alcoholism and heroin." all my progress gone and i now look self destructive to them.

  19. Well if it's really bothering you, then your parents are only looking out for your best interests. :(

It's probably undone a little of the education you've tried to toss their way, but that's to be expected considering the circumstances, if they were against it or apprehensive before... they are worried about their 'baby boy/girl'! (Sorry, not sure which you are :) )

But there are hundreds of possible, natural chemicals to choose from, in cannabis, many of which are also in hundreds (more accurately, probably thousands) of other plants! That's why I suggested the journal.

So if it keeps bothering you, stop using it. And keep an eye on your diet and if any random fruits, or vegetables, or meats (particularly seasoned meats) give you difficulties then, mark it down, and if it has one, check the ingredients list for possibilities, and learn to avoid your triggers.

Good luck, hope you're feeling better soon!

I'm going back to my hometown and will see if the weed there does it.

the day before i left home to go to ny i was smoking a lot and feeling good. it was when i arrived in new york, started smoking, eating and vaping the weed that everyones still enjoying. however i feel pain after consumption. are there additives to increase thc and high? because that was some of the best quality bud I've ever had.

my latest hypothesis is that its something in their super hydroponic GMO hybrid fertilizer chemical in there weed. yes its clean and we buy from close friends. but i have no clue how it was grown.
