First Grow Journal - White Russian and Northern lights x Skunk #1

Discussion in 'Indoor Grow Journals' started by ChronicProblem, Dec 24, 2011.

  1. hello fellow growers, this will be my first grow journal and my first grow in a long time. right now i have 6 White Russian seeds and 1 feminized Northern Lights x Skunk #1 in super starter plugs inside a dome for germination and sprouting. i have a 400w MH/HPS switchable lighting system in 6'' tube.

they have been in for 60hrs now and they are just now sprouting the surface.(will post pictures later tonight).
My plan is to grow these out and pick the best 1 or 2 WR and the NLxSkunk#1 to be mother plants to take cuttings from for my perpetual harvest hydro setup, then flower the rest of the females.

I hope that i can learn alot from this and get some help from you guys along the way. i look forward to this grow and the experiences it will bring.

    more to come

  2. here are some pics

the six that are grouped together are the White Russian and the one on the right is the NL x Skunk#1.

about 70 hrs in and got one sprouted so far, the others will be popping soon, hopefully. once they grow a little bit i am going to transfer them into 2 gallon pots.

i haven't decided on my lighting cycle yet, but since it is in my basement and it is kinda cold down there, i wanna keep the lights on as much as possible to help keep the temperature up as much as possible. right now the light is on 24hrs.

  3. Merry Christmas everyone, woke up to seeing 4 of my WR sprouted now, the other 2 and the NLxSkunk will probably be up tonight. once they sprout i will put some more pictures up.

I'm so excited for things to pick up and get going. i've been planning this for some time now and it is all coming together now.

has anyone grown these strains before? when would you recommend transplanting them to bigger pots?

  4. here are the latest pictures all but 1 WR and the NLxSk have started popping up. so far they all look pretty healthy.

ive been spraying them with 7.0ph water a couple times a day, with just a tiny bit of liquid karma mixed in with it.

temperature in the room has been fluctuating between 62 - 68 humidity has been right around 50. the temperature in the dome is 72-78, i imagine humidity in the dome is higher.

thats all for now i'll post more as it happens.

  5. Looking good soo far man! Cant wait to see these babys in action!
Whats your plans for the actual setup?

    :smoke:

  6. for my actual setup i have a aeroponic cloner, veg unit and flower units. i will use the best plant out of these for the mother plant to take cuttings for my aero cloner, then once i have those going i will just take cuttings from them before moving them to the flower room so i wont need to keep the mother plants around and can go ahead and flower them.

i will use 400w MH for the veg unit and then 1000w HPS for flowering, the clones i will keep under CFL's for now. I am using an array of Botnicare nute's the whole way through aswell. my goal is to have a perpetual harvest every 3-4 weeks.

I will just keep building as i go, adding new stuff as i can or as i need, i still need to build my flower units and setup that room but it will be a little while before i need it.

  7. Nice nice, so areo all the way thru? Nice!

Yeah im thinking about cutting back my setup to about 400W, 600 for flower.
600's a little excessive for the small plants. and 400 is still a good number. Easier to cool as well.

Yeah im doing the same, my setups pretteh ghetto atm still, but will change soon seeing as all the bills and christmas and stuff gets out of the way! Will be thinking of flowering in about another 2-3 weeks. max.

  8. Hey thanks for checking out my journal! I went ahead and subbed to yours also. :)
I think you thought I was growing White Russian, but I'm actually growing White Rhino XD.
It looks great man best of luck!

  9. well, the mothers will be in soil because i think it will be easier for now, but after that aero all the way. yeah i think that 600w is probably too much for veg unless space isnt a problem and you are trying to grow some monster tall plants, focus the wattage on the flowering so they can get big beautiful buds. after all that is the goal.

all my little ones have sprouted now and are developing nicely. i will post some pics of all them later on. i plan on transplanting them to the 2 gal containers later this week.

i still need to get a fan so that when i transplant them i can cool the light and keep the light as close as possible, so they grow quick. anyone have recommendations on fans for 400w MH in 6'' tube?

    pics coming later tonight!

white russian...white rhino...its all gonna be dank buds in the end. :smoke:

I dont think your set-up is ghetto at all...looks pretty cool to me...I like the dome. Good luck to you, Im subbed. I have zero knowledge when it comes to anything but soil so Im sure I will learn a few things.

  11. With my 600W i have a 8" exhaust fan just one of the straight thru ones not an inline. it does the job pretteh well i can have it about 8" from the canopy and have temps under 80. unless its like today and the ambient is 80ish and its 84 on canopy.

will be getting a 400cfm fan, ill let you know how it goes, it should work fine imo.

  12. here are the pics from tonight, they are all doing really well. the ones that sprouted first are obviously the biggest ones so far. the middle one on the back row had it's helmet stuck on it and i carefully removed it and the leafs were able to spread out and is doing fine now. I have my light at 75% strength and is about 18'' from the plants. temperatures in the dome are right at 80F and temp in the room is at 65-66F. still just giving the plugs a few spays a couple times a day with the water/liquid karma

I've also included a couple of pics for my Veg unit i'll be using once i can get some cuttings from these gals. Resevoir on bottom with 400gph pump. pvc piping with sprayers in the top, with 2'' net pots with neoprene collars for the lid. pretty simple, just tested it and checked for leaks today and it looks like it will work pretty well.

  13. Are you concerned about the long thin stems on your sprouts?....... stretching maybe? Or you just going to bury them in soil or into you aeropots?

  14. yeah I'm not sure why they are stretching, they are getting plenty of light. my MH light is set at 300w right now and it is about 9" away from the dome. i was planning on just burying the stem when i transplanted, but do you think i should put the light at 100% ? or is the something else that would cause them to stretch like that?

  15. Man, to tell you the truth, Im not sure what to tell you. 9" is pretty close to that dome... Plus I dont veg with my HPS because I think its just to intense for sprouts/seedlings. I have a nice little 100 watt T-5 fluorescent that I use that works great and I can get it really close to the sprouts.

  16. Looks good, cant wait to see your aero setup when its setup :) subscribed!

Also, a cfl should be okay to sprout. For a bulb that small, depending on your heat output (which generally shouldnt be very high) you might even get away with 5 or 6 inches. 3 inches is usually max intensity. A tiny suggestion, but if you're planting aeoponically, stretching might not be a huge problem?

  18. actually these guys are going into soil to be mothers, the aero setup will be for there clones

sorry for the lack of updates, my computer shit itself and i spent the past two days fixing it, but i have done alot with the room.

i got a new inline fan for my light and have that hooked up now, its almost 500cfm i think. i also transplanted into the 2 gal pots, boosted the light to 100% and also switched my lights to 20/4 today where they will remain for now. the plants look pretty good right now and i expect them to start taking off real soon. second set of leaves are starting to come in on all of them.

temps under light are around 72-74, and around 65-67 everywhere else.

  19. Looking good so far brother!

Liking the inline! i borrowed my mates 40W one to see what the diff was between mine, sounds pretteh loud. that think must sound like a jet engine. ahha

They are always so cute when small.
Humidity was a little high for one of my seedlings and got a little burnt! Coming back nicely tho!

  20. here are some more pics they appear to be growing nicely. these are day 14 from when seeds where planted.

humidity has been staying pretty high around 55-65, im thinking about getting a dehumidifier. temperatures have been getting pretty cold too trying to keep it as warm as i can in there, but overall everything is holding up.

i've been watering them about every 3-4 days giving them some liquid karma and pure blend pro veg formula every other watering.

aero setup: veg unit is finished, just finished up my cloner unit and about halfway done with my flower unit but i got a while before im ready for that, can't wait to get it running. i just talked to a friend and they are going to trade me some super silver haze clones for the white russian clones once they are ready so i will have 3 strains going once im ready. :smoke:

    more to come soon
