What Hydroponic Nutrient Do You Use??

  1. I'll drop by, for some reason I had it in my head that he was AN. It looks like a good read.

I started on the GH 3 part and moved to H&G after a couple of grows. Figured why use 3 parts when you can achieve the same with 2. Plus they have different bases for veg and flowering which I seem to like. She's a different girl in flower than she is in veg. Made sense :) And now comes the madness of all the additives.

Anyone noticed that Big Bud smells like McDonald's fries? Jake, I need a side by side test on that one :)

  2. GH lucas formula. I picked it because it seemed easy, and I haven't ever had any problems really so I never changed.

  3. botanicare's pure blend right now epsom and vita sand in coco with ff h pbat shit in bloom.

and jake the pondzyme xperment raises ppm by 60 in ro water and still adding raw mater.

  4. haven't ever had any problems cause u've never changed to find something better.

  5. General Hydroponics FloraNova Grow. Will be using FloraNova Bloom as I just switched to 12/12

  6. In my dirt grows I have used Foxfarm and Canna, but in recent years have moved more towards largely organic, but I ain't no fanatic, lol, so I do use some addys.

But once I decided to give hydro a go I did a lot of research on several sites and, as your poll shows, the majority stood by GH. Then I got to reading up on the Lucas Formula and so chose to go with FloraDuo. I've also got FlorMicro, BioRoot, Superthrive, Hygrozyme, GH Rare Earth and Carboload. Probably too many, but so far the results I've had are great :)

  7. Whatever you say buddy.

  8. I use AN for the past 3 Years, I have tried other and in my OPINION all nutrients do what are intended to do, however I think some, or maybe most of AN Nutes does it a lot better.

    My Full Line Up is

    Grow, Micro, Bloom (AN)
    Sensi Bloom A&B (AN)
    Big Bud (AN)
BudBlodd (AN) [It was a sample it was given to me, I will not buy that never, useless in my perspective]
    BudCandy (AN)
    OverDrive (AN)
    Shultz Plant Food 10-15-10 (Foliar)
    Hygrozyme
    CalMax (Grotek)
MonsterBloom (Grotek) That stuff is Fricking Awesome and cheap.
    Blackstrap Molasses
    SuperThrive

and what that line up you can kiss goodbye your PH Perfect !

Still, I'm faithful to AN with or without PH whatever !

Don't you just love the negative ppl who randomly pop up?! Seriously, he is doing fine, why fk with it? I have no plan to change from my nutes no time soon and my girls are doing wonderful. Keep growing and don't let the negative ppl get to ya!

  10. Look at the poll GH is in the lead.

You use 1 part purple and 2 parts pink, then you just get a ppm meter and don't burn em. Plus if you want to use a bunch of additives, they have tons. To be honest I've changes it up and used more or less or different additives with a few grows, and the one that turned out the best smoke was just 8ml micro 16ml bloom the whole way through.

I was agreeing with you. I was just 2 lazy to go get the post the other guy commented on yours. Sorry for the confusion.

    thats pretty cool man...
Now you're making headway, I hope you're recording shit to start a thread and post up your findings... ;)

Personally I see both points of views Zoomme...

On the one hand mrgoodsmoke is a K.I.S.S (keep it simple stupid) kind of guy, which I was for 12+ years, and thesage3 is a "there has to be a better way" kind of guy, which I have become now..

But we ALL MUST realize and respect, "to each is his/her own"...

IMPO, thesage3 is a good guy if you know how to take him.. ;)
Meaning he is sort of like me, VERY opinionated and VERY vociferous in said opinions..

But thesage3, ever hear the old saying, "ya catch more flies with honey than vintager"??? ;)
If this forum has taught me anything, it's how to deal with people you never met or do not know..
Meaning, no matter if I'm right or wrong, opposed to coming off as "you're a dumbass", if I state my opinion (or fact if that is the case), and why, I tend to spark the interest in people...

If they do not want too or cannot see my point of view (then it's you're a dumbass... NO... LMFAO), again it's simply "to each is his/her own".... Because I grow my way, you grow your way, Zoomme grows her way, and so on, if we're happy, should that not be all that matters??

Even if you're right, if that's what that person is happy doing and do not want to try something different,
who are you to tell him/her differently???

OMG, can we get a group hug now???
Don't make me break out into the "we are the world" song....:laughing:
No wait, you guys stay away...
Can I get a hug Zoomme?? :ey: LMFAO

Hey girl, not sure ya know, but the image below, by clicking on several of them in the people you want to quote, then click the last "quote" button, you can quote several people at once...

Not sure if ya knew, just lookin out... ;)

  13. do you use it with regular water or RO water?

  14. Not on my phone. Thats where I post from 95% the time. We can't give rep either which sucks.

  15. ...I'll drop the formula for anyone who isn't familure.
...I tap my res with water only up until res switch, I simply switch out my res every 2 weeks...KISS

    Lucas Formula

General Hydroponics Flora Series Feeding Strategy -

    G-M-B (Grow-Micro-Bloom)
    0-5-10 - For Vegetative cycle (18/6)
    0-8-16 - For Flowering cycle (12/12)

The numbers above indicate the number of milliliters (ml) of Flora Grow, Micro or Bloom formulas that I use in one gallon (US Liquid) of nutrients.

You will notice I dont use any of the Flora “Grow” formula, do not need to, the Flora "Micro" provides plenty of Nitrogen.

There are two ways to work with this formula:

    1. Top off the reservoir daily using a pH corrected water solution as required to maintain full reservoir level. After adding back an amount of water equal to the amount of your reservoir capacity you should change the reservoir and put in fresh solution.

    2. Top off the reservoir daily using a pH corrected 100% strength nutrient solution as required to maintain full reservoir level. Continue to use this nutrient solution without dumping the tank unless the PPM rises above acceptable levels.

Between vegetative and flowering cycles you should dump your nutrients, then flush (possibly with Clearex) to remove salt buildups, then change to the other feeding program. Always shake your GH nutrient bottles before using them!

For young plants, just transplanted into the hydro setup, give them 50% strength nutrient mix to prevent overfeeding them while their young. Gradually bring up the mix to full strength as they grow over the next few weeks or so.

The lucas formula is normally intended for use with RO or near 0 PPM water.

NOTE: The Lucas formula eliminates the need for Epsom salts to correct (Magnesium) Mg deficiencies in most normal feeding programs recommended by manufacturers. Cannabis needs a lot of Magnesium to thrive.

The Flora Micro is providing the Nitrogen and the Magnesium in the proper balance, thus there is no need for the Grow formula and little or no room under the maximum acceptable ppm limit of 1600 @ 0.7 conversion.

    Calculated EC/TDS levels:

    EC microsiemen:
    0-4-8: 946 µS
    0-5-10: 1184 µS
    0-8-16: 1894 µS

    TDS @ 0.5 conversion:
    0-4-8 = 473 ppm
    0-5-10 = 592 ppm
    0-8-16 = 947 ppm

    TDS @ 0.7 conversion:
    0-4-8 = 663 ppm
    0-5-10 = 829 ppm
    0-8-16 = 1326 ppm

Addback Calculator - (For Advanced Users)

Say you were running the 0-8-16 formula, at 0.7 conversion with a 22 gallon res. When you first fill it up, your ppm will be around 1330.

Now you have been growing for a week, and some of the water has been taken up by the plants, some has evaporated, and now your res is at 947 ppm. You need to get your ppm from 947 to 1330. Here is the equation:

((target - current) / target) * 8 ml per gallon * res gallons = Flora Micro (ml) double this figure to get Flora Bloom (ml)

    Example:

    ((1330 - 947) / 1330) * 8 * 22
    (383 / 1330) * 8 * 22
    0.3 * 8 * 22 = 53 ml Flora Micro

53 ml Flora Micro, double that and you get 106 ml Flora Bloom. So 53 ml Flora Micro and 106 ml Flora Bloom to add back to your 22 gallon res to get you from 947 to 1330.

    Using Hard Water GH Micro

I had been experimenting with using the Hard water Micro as a substitute for the normal Flora Micro, this to account for my hard 350 PPM water and the lack of a large enough RO filter at the time. It has worked well for me. I just kept my reservoir below 1150 PPM @ .5 conversion and its all good.

One tip - do not pH down this stuff, the hard water micro will drop pH gradually over the next 24 hours, for example I mix up a batch, it is at like 6.2, the next day, its at 5.6-5.8 after running in the system for a while. If I pH downed that to 5.7 before putting it in the system, it ended up as low as 4.8-5.2 by the next day.

My conclusion, the hard water micro was buffering the alkaline crud in my water, it just doesnot do it ASAP fast like the phosphoric acid.

  16. Lucas formula ftw. Simple, cheap, and covers all the nutrients your plants will need.. With the addition of cal/mag if your water sucks. I never understood why so many people fall victim to the clever marketing tricks of nutrient labels. There are only so many elements your plant needs..

  17. I'm using lucas formula w/ hygrozyme and calmag in bubble buckets. Had a pretty good pull for the first run with it. It's definitely worked out better than my last run with fox farms trio - less ph swings as well.

  18. I didn't mean any harm in my post just using toothpicks to open ur eyes.lol

  19. good info but would like to point out that if ur doing lucus and not using gh's micro make sure you read the ingredients cause humboldt nutrient's micro contains no mag. and not sure which company did it but one company has taken out the n in there micro. forcing you to buy there grow or switch brands. just some fyi.

  20. H&G full line.
Quality of the finished product is amazing. I've done GH, AN, and Canna. H&G in the cost vs. quality comparison won out over the others. I run recirculating top feed in coco w/ geo pots.

Additives I use from time to time are:
    Bloombastic weeks 3-5
Hygrozyme - periodically thru the run
    Sugaree last 3 weeks
    Shooting powder- last 3 weeks
Cal Mag+ periodically 2ml / gal as insurance policy.
MOAB week 1 in 1/2 strength dose to speed up transition.
Sea Green in Veg last 2 days of res.
    True Blooms -foliar early flowering
Mykos WP up to week 2 of flowering
    Azos in Veg
Compost Tea last 2 days of every res.

    I consistently pull 2+ per 1000w.
