i still live with my parents and no matter how much i really want to grow this clone i cant
so my question is does bud still smell if its in its vegetative stage? i was thinking of keeping it but not flowering it until i get my own place.

Yes it does still smell, although much less than a flowering plant. I would suggest using the search on this site to look up "carbon filter" without the quotes. Let's you grow with no smell.
