Minimum Weed, for Maximum High

Discussion in 'Weed Edibles' started by Tolvin, Dec 15, 2011.

  1. Hey first post on the forums, but I felt it was time to become active. On friday I will be picking up an ounce of decent weed for the upcoming christmas holiday. I will be going home from college to visit my parents and old friends. Seeing as I have a house with noone in it for the majority of the holiday I thought it was high and time (pun not intended) to attempt some edibles. Now my friends are big fans of smoking, and want to keep the majority of our weed for smoking but I convinced them to put 4-6 grams into attempting a few recipes. Since looking on a few forums and recipe sites, I have come to the conclusion thay there are very few recipes that only use a few grams. I dont have 1/2 an ounce to waste on 1 platter of brownies. So I was wondering if anyone here has any recipes or suggestions that use less weed (2-3 grams) but will still get you reasonably high. Thanks!

  2. Hey tolvin, have yet to experiment with edibles but i plan to in the future :) Sounds like a great adventure to me !! You chose the right forums, tons to read here. welcome !

  3. If you want 'the most bang for your buck', then like Whammy said, you're in the right place :)

This should get you started, these will both help you get the right idea for processing small amounts of herb into a potent, bioavailable oil... one is for dry-sift hash, the other is for herb. It's the same glandualr material, and as such it requires the same processing... just thought you could benefit from both tutorials, where if you have a smaller container than a pie dish (similar to the hash tutorial/recipe), that's what you'll want to use. :)

(The process above, details the bare minimum required to achieve a strong, and powerful, but still lucid effect-wise, oil... processing longer, will sometimes cause you to have too-good a nights sleep ((meaning you may 'clock out early', before you can fully enjoy the experience!)), but it may also intensify the experience for you, depending on your body and metabolism....

And whether you're a patient, or a recreational user, experimenting with different oils, and different strains/plants, can help to positively effect your outcome!)

Now, here are a few recipes that you can make with your oil/s, which don't require that you make a huge number of doses... some do not require any baking or additional heat beyond making the oil, and some do, and you can easily reduce the recipes depending on your needs. :)

(You can use herb oil to make capsules, however hash is much easier to concentrate, with herb you will need to take more caps to get the dose you need)

(With the 'Canna BOMBS', just cut the recipe in half, and with 4 grams, you should have about 8 - 12 reasonably strong doses depending on your tolerance. Feel free to skip the 'fuse' and the chocolate coating, for a simple -peanut butter cannafudge truffle-)

(The Hashy Space Truffles can easily be made with canna oil; feel free to use powdered milk to cut down on the 'liquid' content, and concentrate each dose :) )

(If you don't feel like making your own ice-cream, just use a fork to whisk your oil into warm cream or milk, then stir that into either a bowl, or slightly thawed and partially-depleted container, of your favorite ice-cream)

(Unless you're already very experienced with hard candy in general, I don't recommend that you try making hard candy with canna oil/butter.. it is tricky, and you could easily waste your oil this way! And again, it's also a good idea to first make hash, then hash oil.. regular canna oil can sometimes be a bit too diluted. If you have access to a high proof grain/drinking alcohol, a hash extract is easy to make.

If you are compelled to make hard candy: Make a few test-batches without your canna oil, but using the same oil you used to make your canna oil, first.)

(4 - 6 grams is more than enough oil to make a good Canna Pizza or two ;) This recipe includes home made canna dough, as well!)

The Truffles and PB Canna BOMBS are great for the holidays, but Holiday Hash or Canna Nog is super easy and even better, if you like 'regular' stuff that is :)

And just to show you how easy a pizza can be... you just buy your toppings, a bag of cheese, a can of sauce and a dough base, swirl on your canna oil, add your sauce, cheese and toppings, and 13 - 16 minutes at 425 f. later, you've got an awesome stoner-snack!

(This is a quickie edible, but it's designed to use the time as efficiently as possible, to provide the most potency, with stealth and speed... you will be sacrificing some potency, much like the common firecracker. However these both taste and, more importantly, they work MUCH better! :) )

Lastly, the oil source you use, directly effects the quality of your resulting edible, and even dictates where and how your potency is absorbed, by your body!

The best easily-found oils are coconut oil, and clarified butter (which is store-bought butter, that has been heated to evaporate the water content, while you scrape off the milk solids as they appear). These oils are rich in short and medium-chain triglycerides, which are absorbed passively through the portal vein and liver, for further conversion.
Most common kitchen cooking oils, such as olive, canola, soy, and corn oils, have very little saturated fat, and are comprised mainly if not entirely of long-chain triglycerides, which are absorbed lymphatically, bypassing the liver, preventing much of your potency from being converted to the more-powerful 11-OH-THC.

In most cases, bypassing the liver entirely is a bad thing, but it can be beneficial if your liver consistently over-metabolizes (burns off) cannabinoids upon their entry, or if you are a patient with either little, or no appetite, before you medicate (in which case a long-chain containing oil should be used with canna to peak hunger, and medium/short-chain oils should be consumed shortly after a meal).

Remember, cannabis glandular material is notoriously difficult for the body to digest and absorb all on its own, even after it's been activated, even when it is in the form of a stocky or gooey concentrate. You'll get the most potency, if you put in the effort required to promote a good level of bioavailability. Without that effort, much of your valuable potency simply goes 'in one end, and out the other', without absorption.
Edible cannabis has the potential to be much more powerful, than smoking the same amount.. but only with the right processing! :smoke:

Cut corners, and you'll quickly need to begin multiplying the amount you eat, to achieve the desired effect.

You have loads of options... canna oil, and tinctures, are very versatile! It's all in knowing both how, and when to add the oil, in order to blend with the recipe successfully while, just as crucially, avoiding degradation.

Good luck, and have fun!
