Wiring a 3-wire CPU fan with clear cords?

Discussion in 'Grow Room Design/Setup' started by Stepoo, Dec 15, 2011.

  1. I just got 2 CPU fans in the mail. They're 2 ball bearing and blow 103CFM.

How am I supposed to wire them? The cords are clear and they don't really give any indication as to which cord is which, unless I just can't see it.

    Here's a pic:

  2. Well the 3 wires are positive , negative , and speed sensor...
Black is ALWAYS negative on fans, and can only assume that the center (copper) wire is the black on that fan..
Does the manufacture of the fan have a website maybe to get some info???

  3. It does, but I couldn't find info about the wires. Here's a link. My fans are 120mm

I just sent support an email. Hopefully someone can clear this up.

  4. The copper one should be your positive. The neutral and speed control should be interchangeable, they are both neutral.

  5. Support cleared it up for me.

"You can follow the color wires as indicated in the attached 3 pin connector picture. Just make sure you have the connector facing the same side as the picture shown."
